Attention McGregor JFK families and fans!
My name is Megan Anderson, and I am the NEW director in McGregor! I am beyond excited to share my knowledge with the dancers in the community. I have been the assistant dance coach the last 3 seasons, so I know most families know me, or my family. I still wanted to introduce myself, and share my background for those who might be new here!
I moved to Minnesota from Greenwood, MO in 2014 to be with my husband! We own a 100 acre farm right outside of town, and we deliver the mail right here in McGregor!
My husband has 4 older kids who all went to McGregor Schools. We also have 3 kids together, who aren’t quite school age yet.
My dance life started like most of our dancers, at the young age of 4. Growing up I took every class in every different style I could. Ballet was ALWAYS my favorite! Once I was old enough, I joined a competition team as well. I did countless solos, duos, and groups. Once I hit high school, I auditioned for my high school dance team. PLOT TWIST! I did NOT make the team! So instead, I auditioned for the Color Guard. For who don’t know, the Color Guard is the dancers/twirlers that preform with the marching band using flags! While it isn’t a dance team, it is a very dance intensive sport. That is where my passion for coaching started!
My coaching career in Color Guard started in 2009, when I graduated high school. I was an assistant coach at Lee’s Summit West High School for 4 years. In 2013 I got my first head coaching position at Concordia High School. We had back to back undefeated seasons in 2013 and 2014.
My teaching style is fundamental focused. I love to find ways to learn the fundamentals, while still having fun! I love for dancers to try new things, and really challenge themselves.
Thank you families in advance for trusting your kiddos with me! I know we are going to have lots of fun. I have so many ideas, and I can’t wait to share them all with you!!
Stay tuned! ❤️
Coach Megan
