tients would give way to something much more sinister. XD-1027 – an experimental bio weapon – was tested on convicts. It was a chemical that destroyed living tissue yet created functioning cells that should not have been self-sustaining. A full, uncontrolled contagion resulted. Officially “dead” patients roamed the grounds, looking for living flesh to rejuvenate their cells. U.S. military efforts to contain the outbreak met with limited success. In 2013, the outbreak reached uncontrollable levels. After the loss of over 1,100 soldiers,the military is now calling on local civilians to help eradicate the infected.
