If you’re an 80’s Kid like me, then this one really hurts… Peter Cullen, the voice of TRANSFORMERS’ Optimus Prime, has passed away. He was 85. I still have all of my 80’s Optimus Prime transformers. I still get goosebumps hearing Peter speak in that raspy, but calming, Optimus Prime voice. The world lost a great one! RIP Peter! It’s your time to Transform and Roll Out!

We have lost another legend— Tim Curry has passed away. He was 80. I’ve been a super fan since the first time I watched The Rocky Horror Picture Show…then Annie, and Clue, and IT, and Home Alone II, and Scary Movie, and everything in between, and after and on stage! He was truly one of a kind! He will be missed! Let me know your favorite work by Tim in the comments! Rip Mr. Curry! Here’s a fun clip from 1985’s Clue to celebrate the legendary life of Tim Curry…

We have lost a legend— Dolly Parton has passed away. She was 80. She was a stalwart for women, penning songs that gave voices to millions across the world. She penned funny songs, love songs, pop songs and so many more. She was a great human. She will be missed. Here’s a little clip from Johnny Carson where Dolly sing her hit “9 to 5.” RIP Dolly….

We’re deeply saddened to pass along the news of the sudden passing of Sam Neill. He was 78. Though many will remember him as Alan Grant in Jurassic Park or from roles in Bicentennial Man, Merlin, The Piano or any number of great films and TV Shows…I first saw Sam in 1981’s “Possession,” and I was a huge fan by the time “Dead Calm” came out in 1989. Another icon gone, but Sam will not be forgotten. We pay tribute to Sam Neill by revisiting that iconic ending scene to 1989’s “Dead Calm,” starring Sam, Nicole Kidman and Billy Zane…. RIP Sam!

Happy 67th Birthday to Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora! Whether it’s on guitar or back up vocals…Richie added a sound/note to Bon Jovi that no one else on earth could have! We hope you enjoy your day Mr. Sambora! Here’s a little clip of Jon & Richie on stage at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards performing an awesome acoustic rendition of “Wanted Dead or Alive.” The song wouldn’t be the same without Richie’s guitar work…..

We’re saddened to pass along the news of the passing of Bonnie Tyler. She was 75. The Welsh singer rose to fame in the mid-late 70’s and then ruled our 1980’s! She was one of my absolute favorite artists growing up in the 80’s. To remember her we’re revisiting a Top of the Pops clip of “Holding Out For a Hero” from May 9th 1985. Bonnie, you were one of our heroes! Thank you for the great music and memories! RIP to the most beautiful raspy voice in the industry.💔

Extremely sad news to pass along— Rob Base, legendary and iconic 80’s & 90’s Hip-Hop Artist, has passed away at the age of 59. Rob passed away after a private battle with cancer. Rob & DJ E-Z Rock were a formidable music duo, and they helped usher in the golden ERA of hip-hop. When we were at the roller rink, club or bar….we hoped any number of their songs would play! It Takes Two was a smash hit for the Duo…let’s remember Rob Base with a lil It Takes Two…

Extremely sad news for me to pass along— Dennis Locorriere, the amazing singer/songwriter for DR HOOK has passed away. He was 76. Dennis was battling Kidney Failure, and passed away in England on May 16th. You CAN’T be an 80’s kid and say you weren’t raised on 80’s, 70’s and 60’s music. Music was vital. One of my favorite Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show’s hits was Sexy Eyes! It was released in 1980 as a single on the heels of its late 1979 release on the album Sometimes You Win. The Album was in the Top 100 on the Billboard Charts & Sexy Eyes hit the top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 in 1980. Dennis had an amazing raspy voice, and his stage presence was wild, crazy and unique…in all the good ways! Dr. Hook vocalist Mr. Ray Sawyer passed away several years ago. May they both Rest Easy.
