We are searching for students who have an interest in being part of our set building crew, lighting crew, sound, costumes, hair and makeup and more. McHi Theatre is excited to welcome Mr. Hector Lara to our directing team!

Hector Lara is an alum of McAllen High School. During their time, he was the student secretary from 2019-2021. Now a graduate from Sam Houston State university and South Texas College, Mr. Lara is a 5x Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival award recipient for their costume designs, and has since been working in the valley as a local costume designer. They also assisted local fashion designer Manuel Tiscareño on helping craft outfits for Milan Fashion Week and the VMA’s. Mr. Lara is very excited to start their educational journey at McAllen High School, and wishes the students a very good start of the school year.

Auditions for our Fall Play will be happening on Monday, August 17 and callbacks on Tuesday, August 18 from 4:30-7:00pm. Actors must prepare 2 contrasting monologues that do not exceed 2 minutes in total length. Please reach out to Mr. David Amador to sign up or receive more information. Auditions are open to all McAllen High School Students. (Show title will be announced soon)

Jose Gutierrez will be attending AMDA College of the Performing Arts to pursue a B.F.A in Film & Television Arts: On-Camera Acting.
