Today, at the Veterans’ War Memorial of Texas, we gathered not just to remember names etched in stone — but to honor lives lived with courage, sacrifice, and unwavering love for this country.

Memorial Day is more than a holiday. It is a reminder that freedom has always come at a cost carried by brave men and women who never made it home.

As the flags waved and prayers were spoken today, we remembered the heroes who gave everything so we could have tomorrow.

This Memorial Day, as we gather with family and friends across McAllen to enjoy the places, people, and moments we love most, we pause to reflect on the freedoms we are privileged to share because of their service.

From neighborhood cookouts to community celebrations, may we carry gratitude in our hearts and remembrance in our minds.
