Announcing the 2026 Youth Leadership Academy

The Township of Hamilton Police Department and the Hamilton Township Police Activities League would like to announce that applications for the 2026 Youth Leadership Academy are now being accepted. The program is open to individuals who will be entering into the 6th, 7th and 8th grade in the upcoming school year.

This is NOT a “scared straight” or “boot camp” style program. The goal of this program is to provide positive interactions between law enforcement officers and the community they serve. Participants will meet officers from all backgrounds and specialties, and will get to take a deeper look into what the roles of a police officer are within the community they serve. The program aims to increase self-confidence, improve decision making, and enhance leadership skills for those participating.

The Youth Leadership Academy will be hosted at Oakcrest High School. The academy will be a week long with graduation on the final day.

The academy will begin on August 3rd and run until August 7th. Participants are to be lined up for roll call in front of Oakcrest High School main entrance by 9:00 am and will need to be picked up at 4:00 pm. The fee for the program is $85.00, which goes towards the costs associated with the program. Participants will be receiving shirts which are to be worn during their time in the academy.

There will be military style drills every morning, and the day will end with physical fitness training. This will be a combination of running, push ups, sit ups, and other calisthenic style exercises. Please prepare for this prior to the start of the academy.

There are only a limited number of seats for the program and applications are due by July 1st. Notification of acceptance into the program will be made via email by July 8th, and the program fee will be due by July 31st if selected.

Applications for the program can be completed online through the link below or using the QR Code. Contact the Program Coordinators with any questions.
