For those wondering if we are open today… kind of! We were able to reschedule nearly all of the appointments for the day with the exception of two appointments (mine oops). To show my support in the resistance I’m donating all the profits of those appointments to the Beyond Bond and Legal Defense Fund, a 5013c in Cambridge that is dedicated to providing legal assistance and financial relief to those targeted by ICE. The first statement in their about us is as follows which I really appreciated:
“We honor people’s dignity and choices in a system that denies dignity and choice.”
Days like these matter, even when you cannot fully participate. Find small ways to consistently help, it doesn’t have to be a grand gesture- it’s about shifting public consensus and demanding our government respect our immigrant neighbors and our rights. Call your reps, I know we live in MA so if that doesn’t feel like enough, make a donation to a relief network or mutual aid fund in another state.
This is America, riddled with a racist and abusive history, this is NOT NEW but it is a breaking point. Let’s break and heal better. I love my community, as new to it as I feel, so RBA will remain a safe place for all our neighbors, especially immigrants.
