Six North Fork athletes left the Suffolk County Class D track and field championships with All-County honors — and two came home as county champions.
Southold/Greenport junior Le Neve Zuhoski won the discus, then headed home to get ready for prom. Mattituck junior Ever Meyer defended her pentathlon title, while Ida Reiniger, Ryan Duffy, Devin Stanton and Emmett Tramontana also earned All-Suffolk County honors.
For a small group, it was a big afternoon on the track and in the field.

Southampton Town police have identified the 38-year-old Greenport man whose body was found Sunday afternoon in Tiana Bay in Hampton Bays.
Police said criminality is not suspected at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.

After noticing pieces of released balloons scattered along local shorelines, Girl Scout Troop 1416 members Rosamond Bliss, Brooklynn Piraino and Cameron Ahearn partnered with Balloon Mission to install collection bins in Mattituck and Cutchogue for their Silver Award project.

Fifth Street beach brightened up Friday, thanks to Greenport High School artists and the village's mural committee who freshened up the comfort station.

Sunflowers were originally painted there roughly a decade ago. The official unveiling of the mural will be on June 12 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Greenport community shows up.

After resident after resident voiced support for a privately funded plan to revamp the Third Street basketball courts during a nearly three-hour session.

Mayor Kevin Stuessi added a walk-on resolution to move the project forward — and the board unanimously voted to advance planning and discussions with Tod Hart and Collin Ratsey.

Carpentry is more than tools and angles.

Mattituck BOCES carpentry students are learning about themselves as well as they problem solve and build all year.

Recent completed projects include the time capsule box that has to hold up until 2051 and the patriotic signs on the school lawn celebrating America250.

Big jumps. Bigger splash.

Greenport Harbor Brewing Company’s Dog Dock Diving weekend didn’t just bring flying pups and packed crowds — it also raised more than $8,000 for the North Fork Animal Welfare League.

The donation will help support food and medical care for animals at the shelter.
