Join artist Camara “Cam” Goodrich at MassMu for a workshop exploring the calming connection between art and nature on Tuesday, September 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.!

Participants in this hands-on workshop will create their own moss artwork in a cradled wooden frame, using preserved moss, driftwood, pebbles, and other natural elements to design textured pieces inspired by Earth's landscapes. Each participant will leave with a unique piece of art that doubles as a natural décor accent. Bringing your own natural materials is encouraged but not necessary.

Along the way, guests will explore the concept of biophilic art and bringing nature indoors to nurture creativity, relaxation, and well-being. Biophilic art relates to the human tendency to interact with other forms of life in nature.

This workshop is open to students aged 14 and older. The workshop fee, $23/member and $28/nonmember, includes all supplies. Register via Humanitix or by calling 330-833-4061.

Come see our current Studio M exhibition before is closes! The exhibition is called "Eternal Flames," and features large portrait paintings by Nick Lee. It is on display through August 30th. An artist interview with Nick is available on MassMu.org and Spotify.

Lee received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in studio art from Kent State University. He is pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Iowa. His work is inspired by the diversity of human experience. As a Japanese American, he strives to better represent minorities like himself in American portraiture and Western art. Another motivation for his work is self-discovery. He uses symbolic Japanese objects in his paintings to connect with a culture that was never taught to him growing up. Lee is the 2023 recipient of the Distinguished Citizen for Art Education for the Northeast Ohio region by the Ohio Art Education Association and the 2024 Arts Alive Emerging Artist award by Summit Artspace.
