Meet Ariella Har-Even, our current Studio M artist! Ariella is a jeweler and metalsmith currently living in Cleveland, Ohio. She received her BFA degree in jewelry and metals from the Cleveland Institute of Art, and MA in Holocaust and genocide studies from Gratz College (expected in 2026). She is the recipient of a First Juror’s Award from Enamel Guild/North East, a One for the Future Award from NYC Jewelry Week, and was nominated for a Center for Craft Windgate-Lamar Fellowship in 2019. Ariella’s artwork has been exhibited at various locations including the Ohio Craft Museum (OH), Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan (NY), and Riffe Gallery (OH).

"Across the Ashen River" explores connections between adornment, the body, and rituals of burial and mourning—rituals that were violently disrupted during the Holocaust—which set in motion a chain of generational grief and open wounds. Har-Even views these objects as "intersections between desolation and regrowth, as facilitators of renewed
memory and mourning, and as intimate gestures of resilience and reburial."

"Across the Ashen River" will be on display in Studio M through June 21st. A podcast interview with the artist will be available beginning Tuesday, June 16th.

The Massillon Museum is honored to highlight National Intergenerational Day by showcasing our Intergenerational Program in partnership with Artful Living and Learning, Massillon City Schools, and Danbury Senior Living of Massillon! Funded initially by an Arts Partnership grant from the Ohio Arts Council, the program invites Massillon preschool students and their parents and guardians to interact with senior residents from Danbury while participating in a dance/movement lesson led by an Artful Living and Learning Teaching Artist.

Parents and guardians of students in Massillon Preschools are eligible to attend this program during the school year free of charge! Keep an eye out for information at the start of the 2026-2027 school year!
