Visit the Massillon Museum on Saturday, November 7, for a free Do the Mu workshop! Instructor Camara Goodrich will lead program participants in Reclaimed Canvas–Upcycled Pattern & Textile Painting. All ages and ability levels are welcome and all supplies will be provided. Guests can drop in anytime between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.

Camara Goodrich is an award-winning museum and gallery artist, multidisciplinary creator, and owner of Cam Creates Art Studio. Her work spans oil painting, mixed media, large-scale murals, and interactive art experiences. Known for her expressive palette knife technique in oils, she captures movement, energy, and depth with bold textures and vibrant color. Her mixed media practice incorporates layered materials to explore themes of identity, culture, and transformation. Based in North Ridgeville, Ohio, Camara’s work has been exhibited in museums and galleries, painted live at major events, and integrated into public art projects. A dedicated mentor and educator, she leads sold-out art workshops and supports emerging artists in developing their skills and artistic voices. Through her diverse practice including live painting, murals, and community-driven projects she continues to push artistic boundaries, using art as a vehicle for storytelling, exploration, and connection.

Join us on Friday, November 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., to learn about Dia de los Mu***os during a Story Time in the Main Gallery at the Massillon Museum with a Massillon Public Library librarian, followed by an art activity with MassMu’s Education Department!

This free program is geared toward ages 2 to 5 with a parent/guardian but is open to all ages. Registration is required and can be completed via Humanitix or by calling 330-833-4061.

During halftime at the Massillon Tigers game against Valdosta, Georgia, on Friday, August 18, 2023, the Massillon Tiger Swing Band performed a Salute to Sammy Nestico, filmed for inclusion in the documentary on the classical, jazz, and big band composer which will premiere at the Lions Lincoln Theatre on Saturday, November 14! The event will feature a special performance of Nestico arrangements by the Washington High School jazz orchestra. For more information about the film, visit https://www.sammynesticofilm.com/. Thanks to all who attended our Children’s Pumpkin Patch Party last evening! Celeste Stauber's artist book "Natural Devotion" is currently on display in Studio M. The artist created every part of the book, including paper, typesetting, illustration, printing, and stitching.

Listen to Celeste's podcast interview to learn all about her artist practice. It is available starting Tuesday, October 20, 2026, on MassMu's website and Spotify. Her solo exhibition, also titled "Natural Devotion," is on view until November 1, 2026.

Following the 1943 season, Paul Brown left The Ohio State University to serve his country as World War Two rattled the nation. Commissioned with the Navy as a lieutenant, Brown was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Academy near Chicago, IL, where he was quickly promoted to head coach of the Academy’s football program.

During Brown's two seasons with the Navy, the Blue Jackets compiled a 15–5–2 record, sealing off the wartime seasons with a 39–7 victory over Notre Dame. From Chicago, Brown moved on to Cleveland where, utilizing players and schemes developed at Great Lakes, he built one of pro football’s greatest dynasties.

Give to Grow: Preserving & Sharing Our Story

During Give to Grow, we’re highlighting the impact that generosity has throughout MassMu. Sometimes that impact is immediately visible. Other times, it happens quietly behind the scenes. In both cases, it helps us preserve and share the stories of our community.

Sometimes generosity helps us preserve the past. Sometimes it helps us shine a little brighter in the present.

This year, support from The Robert and Nancy Gessner Charitable Fund at Stark Community Foundation, Visit Canton, and ArtsinStark helped make MassMu’s new neon sign possible, a glowing new presence on Lincoln Way that welcomes visitors and proudly announces MassMu’s place in downtown Massillon. Behind the scenes, support from the McLain and Scheetz Families is helping preserve another part of our community’s story through the digitization of historic film, ensuring that fragile pieces of our shared history can be preserved and experienced by future generations.

From the sign outside our doors to the history preserved within them, donor support makes an extraordinary range of work possible.
