Meet our new director!
Scott Zeuch – Director, Yuba Sutter Big Band
Scott Zeuch brings over 27 years of teaching and performance experience to his role as Director of the Yuba Sutter Big Band. He earned his undergraduate degree in Music Education from Ohio University, where he studied trombone under the esteemed Dr. Reginald Fink, a graduate of the Eastman Conservatory. He also holds advanced studies in Educational Leadership, reflecting his dedication to both artistic excellence and educational leadership.
Scott’s teaching career spans diverse settings—from public schools in Ohio to 15 years abroad as an international educator in Bangalore, India. There, he served as a band director, International Baccalaureate music teacher, and examiner, working with students from more than 40 nationalities. He currently serves as the Band Director at Yuba City High School, where he continues to inspire young musicians in a vibrant, culturally diverse community.
As a performer, Scott has studied with jazz greats such as Gary Carney and Paul Ferguson, the latter of whom is associated with the Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey Orchestras. His performance experience includes the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra for Youth, the Sutter Symphony, horn-driven rock cover bands inspired by Chicago and Blood, Sweat & Tears, as well as his own jazz combo, Meter Down. He has also performed with the Sutter Big Band.
Deeply influenced by jazz legends such as J.J. Johnson, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Woody Herman, and Thelonious Monk, Scott brings a rich understanding of big band traditions and modern jazz sensibilities to his leadership.
Now honored to lead the Yuba Sutter Big Band—an ensemble supported by Yuba Sutter Arts—Scott is excited to continue its legacy of musical excellence while fostering community and creativity through jazz
