This is a post I’ve been wanting to make since the beginning, and today seems like a good day to finally do so.
When people ask me “Why the Sunflowers?” I often say, “Oh, it’s a tribute to a family member.” And usually I leave it at that, but today, that’s not good enough.
Her name is Jessie Jeannette Hyden and she is a beloved member of our family that we lost far before her time. She was THE brightest light in the room. Had a laugh that filled the room. And anyone she shared the room with knew they were lucky to be in her presence. We miss her every day. We miss her outgoing spirit. Her zest for life. Her fearlessness. And her strength. She fought a ruthless battle for the better part of a decade and she didn’t deserve that. Not her. She should still be here.
So in those times, when things are hard, when life throws some more punches, I try to remember her strength, and push forward. It’s not always easy, but I keep trudging along.
I love you Jess. We all miss you more than we can express. I hope I’m making you proud.
