Hi All,
ROK FEST Race Recap:
In Micro ROK we had Franco Morales and Benjamin Monroy (For those that don’t know Benjamin, he is a Croc Promotion driver from Southern California).
Qualifying: Benjamin qualified in P-1 with a blistering 58.35 and Franco qualified P-4 with a 59.85.
In the first heat, Benjamin scored the win with Franco finishing P-8. In the second heat, Benjamin again scored the win with Franco running a very strong P-3! The third heat saw Benjamin in P-1 and Franco finishing P-4. The final just clarified that Benjamin was the fast guy today, winning with a big margin. Franco with a lot less experience, but a lot of determination, drove really well and finished on the podium (P-2) for the main! So super big congratulations to both drivers and support crew.
In Mini ROK Freddie Guzman Jr was about to run his first ROK Fest event. With dad/tuner Freddie Sr spinning the wrenches and making the adjustments, they qualified a solid P-5 at a 58.44. Pole time was a scant .4 quicker at a 58.062 with only a tenth between each driver.
Heat one went great until a technical penalty (Broken Battery Zip Tie) relegated Freddie to the back of the grid. Heat 2 saw Freddie push hard to get back up to P-6. Heat three saw him move up one more place to P-5. Another penalty pushed Freddie down to P-6 in the Super Heat, but his lap times were very competitive so there was hope for a stronger finish in the main. Unfortunately, a slower driver that made it impossible to pass, regulated Freddie to P-6 in the main. Not a bad finish for their first ROK Fest weekend and the experience will give them a solid direction for testing in the coming weeks.
Racing is fun as long as you put in the work, and all the drivers mentioned above test rigorously and thus make constant improvements. Test Hard, Race Easy. Test easy and the race is hard.
Until Next Time
Jeff
