💃Jazz Master Class with Nan Giordano of Giordano Dance Chicago

Please join NMU Theatre and Dance, North Coast Dance Festival, and the Siril Endowment for the Arts for a jazz dance class and talkback led by Nan Giordano of Giordano Dance Chicago!

DATE: Wednesday, June 24
TIME: 6:30-8:00PM
LOCATION: Forest Roberts Theatre

This master class will be open to dancers ages 12 and up with at least 5 years of previous formal dance training or at least one year of formal university dance training. We welcome observers of any age into the theatre to experience the joy of the Giordano Jazz Technique! There is no fee for participation or observation of this class!

PRE-REGISTRATION FOR CLASS PARTICIPATION IS MANDATORY. Pre-registration for class participation is open now and will close on Monday, June 22 at 5:00PM EST. Class size is limited, so registering early is encouraged. Once you have pre-registered, the North Coast Dance Festival staff will review your application for acceptance. A follow-up email with detailed instructions will be sent to you on or by the evening of Tuesday, June 23. If you are under 18 years of age, you will need to have a parent or guardian's permission to participate.

Our students got to see EVEN MORE shows during their NYC free time including Heathers The Musical, Wicked, Schmigadoon, Moulin Rouge, The Outsiders, The Rocky Horror Show, Maybe Happy Ending, Every Brilliant Thing, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and so many more.

Along with industry events, we hosted a Northern Michigan University Alumni Event with The Alumni Association at Stout in Bryant Park NYC!😸🐾 What a success! We were so fortunate to meet, mingle, and network with NMU alumni and friends in the NYC area.

Pt. 1 - 2026 Field Studies🎭💚💛

A group of our students, faculty, and staff went to New York City for our NMU Theatre and Dance 2026 Field Studies trip!

Recap of our fun adventures in NYC below!

We took a trip to NYC to learn all about the theatre and dance industry, meet and work with professionals, networking, and to connect with NMU alumni. All of the students took masterclasses, workshops, etc. with industry professionals:
- Seminar with Nick Wyman
- Broadway Design and Beyond with the House Lumnia Team
- Actor Auditions with Jason Styres
- Callback Workshop with Scott Wojcik
- Dance Masterclass with Sarah Meahl

We were fortunate to see several BROADWAY SHOWS including:
- Masquerade - the Broadway immersive production of Phantom of the Opera
- Cats: The Jellicle Ball
- Ragtime

Some extra fun things we enjoyed were the Bistro Nome Bus Tour, Mercer Labs Tech Experience, Broadway Museum Tour, and Yankees vs Blue Jays baseball game!
