That's a wrap on Kanawha Ribfest 2025 and the 2025 Kanawha Ribfest Doug Skaff Jr. Memorial Chicken Wing Eating Contest! This was the largest turnout ever in the contest's history! The male winner, Nathan Bandy, ate 21 wings. The female winner, Rebecca Hemsworth, ate 15 wings. It was so much fun! Now, onto the next adventure! Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! Here are the winners of the 2025 Kanawha Ribfest Doug Skaff Jr. Memorial Chicken Wing Eating Contest:
Women's Champion was Rebecca Luann Hemsworth! She inhaled 15 wings! Coming in at 2nd place was Terri Coles! We have a new male champion this year, after Brian Oxley won the past 2 years. This year, Nathan Bandy took home the prize by eating 21 wings! Timothy G Wilmoth came in a close second with 20. Winners received $100, a t-shirt, and a trophy. Congratulations to the winners and big thank you to everyone who came out today! You guys rock!

In the words of Billy Mays, "But wait, there's more!" Our final male competitor for tomorrow's 2025 Kanawha Ribfest Doug Skaff Jr. Memorial Chicken Wing Eating Contest is Chris Slater! Known as the "Happy Hippie", Chris is a life-long resident of the Kanawha Valley. He is a retired long-term care nurse. This contest isn't his first rodeo. Besides wing challenges, Chris is a past victor in the Mardi Gras Casino & Resort West Virginia beignet eating contest, completed the Homewrecker Challenge at Hillbilly Hot Dogs, and completed the 5-pound patty melt challenge at Bier Stube Bar & Grill. Chris says that the other competitors are not ready for the level of wing destruction that he plans on unleashing at tomorrow's contest. He signed up to complete because not only did he want to challenge himself, but he wanted to show his grandkids that "Pawpaw" can throw down in a wing eating contest. The fun begins tomorrow in the The Town of Marmet at 2pm. The women's competition will be first. Ladies, one spot has opened up! PM Kaci Foster if you think you have what it takes to win! The men's competition will follow directly after. Come out for the contest and stay for the great fun and entertainment at this year's Kanawha County Ribfest!

Meet the competitors! Our fifth female contender in the 2025 Kanawha Ribfest Doug Skaff Jr. Memorial Chicken Wing Eating Contest is Latoya Spillman! Tomorrow is the big day! Come cheer on Latoya and the other competitors at the Ben Morris Ballfield in Marmet! Due to a scheduling conflict, one female competitor had to cancel. So, we now have an opening for one lucky gal! If you think you have what it takes to be the Chicken Wing Queen, message Kaci Foster TODAY! Women's contest starts at 2pm, directly followed by men's. Line up to go over rules and regulations is at 1:30pm.
