We have exciting news!!

We know it’s already late, BUT what better day to open the GBO Pool than on WEST VIRGINIA DAY?!

That’s right, tomorrow is the big day, and we’re officially kicking off the season!

What better way to celebrate West Virginia Day than spending the morning at Cass Days, or touring the Observatory, grabbing a pepperoni roll and a Mountain Dew, and then cooling off at the GBO Pool while listening to the trains in the distance and taking in the view of the telescopes on the horizon?

We’ll be open regular hours tomorrow, and we can’t wait to see everyone for another great summer at the pool!

Happy West Virginia Day, and we’ll see you at the pool!

⚽🏈⛳ Don’t Miss Out on PCPR Sports Camps! ⛳🏈⚽

Summer is flying by, and our Sports Camps are right around the corner! These camps are a great way for kids to stay active, learn new skills, build confidence, and have fun with friends.

We know schedules get busy and it's easy to put registration off until "later," but registrations help us determine whether we have enough participants to safely and successfully run each camp. Unfortunately, programs with very low enrollment may have to be canceled, and we would really hate to see that happen.

If your child is interested, please register as soon as possible so we can keep these opportunities available for our community!

We know we missed the schedule for this week, and we apologize. We are now looking ahead to next week, and it is going to be a BIG one!

Parks & Rec will be all over the county next week with our own programs while also assisting with and hosting others. We are opening a brand-new park on June 28 in Hillsboro called Little Levels Academy Park! The dedication ceremony will begin at 7:00 PM, and we are excited to celebrate this new addition to our county.

We are honored to be hosting some of the Allegheny Echoes classes all week long.

For more information about Adult Basketball and to stay up to date on schedules and announcements, check out our new Facebook group.

We will also be hosting a public book signing for Pocahontas Pages! A group of local young people are now officially published authors, and we hope the community will help celebrate this incredible accomplishment. Together, they wrote and published a book about the ABCs of Pocahontas County.

Our Tai Chi class continues to grow, and with so many things happening next week, we will be moving the 10:00 AM class to McClintic Public Library for that class only.

As for the GBO Pool, we are still working through an issue at the pool and hope to be open as soon as possible. We know everyone is eager to get back to the pool, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to get everything ready. We will continue to provide updates as soon as we have them.

No matter your interests, there is something for everyone here at Parks & Rec. We hope that whether you're attending one of our programs, supporting another local event, or simply spending time outdoors, you're enjoying everything our county has to offer.

We look forward to a fun and busy week ahead!

Join us this summer for Tai Chi! ☀️

Our Summer Series kicks off June 15th and runs through August 31st, with classes held every Monday at 10:00 AM.

Whether you’re new to Tai Chi or have been practicing for years, this is a great opportunity to enjoy gentle movement, improve balance, and stay active in a welcoming environment.

Cost is $3 per class, or free with SilverSneakers.

Come relax, recharge, and move with us—bring a friend and be part of our growing community!
