We still have a few spots available in our upcoming quilting workshop on Wednesday, April 29th in the SCPL Makery!

Fiber Artist, Jennifer A. Reis, will be onsite in the makerspace teaching folks about freezer paper, folk applique using hand stitching methods. (Applique is a decorative sewing technique where smaller pieces of fabric are attached onto a larger piece of material by stitching or adhering to create texture and dimension in a design). Participants will use provided images or make their own, transfer drawings to freezer paper, iron the paper onto fabric, and utilize the process to make an appliqued and quilted small textile artwork. All supplies included. This workshop is for anyone 16 years or older and will be from 1:00pm - 5:00pm next Wednesday. Registration is required and the cost is $10 to attend.

Congratulations to the Chilhowie Bluegrass JAM-Boree, the newest affiliate venue of The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail!

The Crooked Road’s Affiliate Venues showcase the finest in traditional music and present a unique experience based on their historical and cultural significance. There are currently 46 Affiliate Venues along The Crooked Road, representing a collection of venues, festivals, jams and concert series across Southwest Virginia. As part of its recognition onto Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail, the JAM-Boree will be presented with an official banner, marking its place along The Crooked Road.

Head to the Lion's Club in Chilhowie every Tuesday night at 6:30 for food, fellowship, and some fantastic picking.
