While we are working on getting the gallery open Kaia and I have just started our 12th bi annual Strada Easel Challenge, we’re painting from life every day for a month.
Time is tight right now for us so this round will be quick studies of whatever catches our attention as we decide what to paint each day.

This challenge has inspired us and is a big part of why we are opening an art gallery — not only to represent the region and artists from around the country with the shows we host, but to show our own work and be our own curators so we can show the paintings we want to— that and we have run out of space for paintings— including the larger more elaborate ones and look forwards to hanging them somewhere people can finally see them!

More places to see art in Marion —- Guy regularly helps hang shows at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center. This work just went up yesterday!

Yay! We just got approval for our sign today, and we can’t wait to see it. Inside, the track lighting is up and the room is finally starting to feel like a real gallery!
We still have interior work to do and the next tackle is the flooring! In the meantime, we’re deep in preparations for the 4th annual Art in the Garden taking place on September 26 at Mandala Gardens — an event we are involved in and co-host with others each year. If you haven’t been, come see what Southern Illinois artists have been making- check out the amazing music line up and more! This event is one not to miss!
As we get closer to our opening date, which will be announced publicly soon we have a small favor to ask —-would you mind sharing our page to help us grow? Thank you so much and have a fabulous September.
