Recognizing that the arts are much more than crafts, a ballet, or a symphony, the Community Arts Foundation (CAF) intends that its projects include many types of art-related activities for all kinds of people. Indeed, CAF is an arts education program designed cooperatively between the school system and the community to promote an appreciation of and an involvement with the arts, including special emphasis on meeting the cultural needs of a cross-section of the community. The arts can allow all people to express themselves by developing special talents, to become more aware of themselves and their feelings, to become more sure of themselves, as well as becoming aware of their potential, to more effectively and positively communicate with others, and to develop better attitudes toward the quality of life that the community offers. Community Arts Foundation in Marion, Kentucky has a stated purpose to encourage an appreciation of the arts and to motivate an active involvement with the arts by the people of Marion and Crittenden County. This is accomplished by offering these individuals convincing and wide ranging experiences with the arts, varying from dance and drama to crafts and photography. Relative to this, CAF promotes the ongoing development of a strong arts curriculum within the schools and a structured means for coordinating and utilizing community resources, as well as its most important resource – the people – in developing a lasting arts program.

This hilarious and heartwarming Christmas classic brings together a wonderful group of local actors who are ready to take you on a very unexpected journey to the manger. We can’t wait to see what this cast does with these unforgettable characters!

One year ago today, our little company opened Steel Magnolias on the Fohs Hall stage.🌸

For a few wonderful nights, Truvy’s beauty shop came to life with laughter, friendship, heartbreak, and a whole lot of hairspray.

And the story didn’t end at Fohs Hall. We later packed up the set and took Steel Magnolias to Badgett Playhouse in Grand Rivers, marking the first time a CAF production had traveled to another theatre for additional performances.

There’s something special about the people who come together to tell a story, and even more special about looking back at everything this one became.

A year later, we’re still so proud of this production and grateful for everyone who was part of it.

What a great morning at our Theatre Audition Symposium! We loved spending time with members of our community who generously gave of their time and experience to help others become more confident and prepared for auditions.

If you’re ready to put some of those tips into practice, our next opportunity is The Best Christmas Pageant Ever! Attendance at the Audition Symposium is not required to audition for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. It's open to all ages and experience levels.

Auditions are digital, and videos are due this Thursday, September 24. Be sure to check out all of the audition materials before you record and submit your video. Take your time, prepare your sides, and let us see what you can do!

There’s still time to join the West Kentucky Youth Choir! 🎶

Our fall session officially began September 8, but we’re keeping registration open through our second session on Tuesday, September 15. If your student missed the first rehearsal, they can still jump in and be part of the choir this fall!

Open to students in grades 3–8 and all experience levels, West Kentucky Youth Choir gives young singers the opportunity to build confidence, strengthen their voices, and experience what it’s like to make music as an ensemble.

Under the direction of Michelle Crider, with Teresa Beavers as accompanist, students will work on vocal technique, singing in harmony, ear training and sight-singing, listening and blending as an ensemble, and preparing for opportunities to perform in our community.

📣 CALL FOR ACTORS!

Community Arts Foundation and Fohs Hall are looking for actors to bring The Best Christmas Pageant Ever to the Fohs Hall stage this holiday season!

🎭 Performances: December 11–13
🎬 Auditions: Online video submission
📅 Audition Deadline: September 24

Auditions are open to all ages, but actors must be able to read the script independently. Whether you’re a familiar face on stage or have always wanted to give theatre a try, we’d love to see what you can do!

Audition materials and instructions are included at the link below. Choose two or three of the provided sides, make some strong character choices, and most importantly, let your personality come through. Live callbacks may be held after submissions are reviewed.

And if you want a little help getting ready, join us for CAF’s FREE Audition Symposium on September 19 at Fohs Hall. It’s a great chance to pick up some tips before recording your audition.

Auditions can be intimidating, but knowing what to expect can make all the difference!

Join us for a FREE Theatre Audition Symposium designed to help performers feel more prepared and confident walking into their next audition. All ages and experience levels are welcome!

Corey Crider, Michelle Crider, Mark Lamb, Braden Locke, and Kim Vince will lead a hands-on morning covering audition dos and don’ts, musical and dance auditions, digital audition submissions, and practical tips for making a strong impression.

West Kentucky Youth Choir is back!

Students in grades 3–8 and of all experience levels are invited to join this exciting fall trimester opportunity to grow as singers and performers.

Under the direction of Michelle Crider, with Teresa Beavers as accompanist, students will learn to:
🎵 Sing in harmony
🎵 Improve ear training & sight-singing

🎵 Listen, blend, and work together as an ensemble
