April’s Day 30 Flower- Hibiscus

Whew, that was definitely a challenge, 30 days of creative flower paintings/mixed media!!!

Two different flower paintings: one starts with textured paste; the other starts with aluminum and melted crayon shavings. You just never know what will be going on in my craft room!

Final days of April flower challenge:
Azalea & Gerbera Daisy.

I thought I’d give you a little behind the scenes at the process of these two flowers. I hope you enjoy.

🧑🏻‍🎨The Azalea’s background was created with texture paste and the Azalea was painted with a layer of gesso and then colored with gouache.
🧑🏻‍🎨 For the Gerbera Daisy I melted crayon shavings between 2 sheets of wax paper (creating a suncatcher effect) and then cut out petals and glued to crumpled aluminum, creating a bit of a stained-glass appearance.

Playing a little ‘catch up’ today because it was stormy, which makes for a great day in the craft room. 🧑🏻‍🎨

I used various techniques on each flower. Description is below each photo.

20- Periwinkle (mixed Media)

21- Coneflower (magazine that I added puff paint to some of flowers to give depth)

22-Morning Glory (acrylic paint)

23-Dahlia (gouache background; acrylic)

Days 13, 14, & 15 Flower Challenge:

I fell behind and lost internet due to our horrible storms, so playing catch-up.

I cheated and printed off Clematis in B&W and then colored in with paint pens. The photo had it in a growers container so I cut that off any cut out some wallpaper I had laying around for the pot! 😂😂 There’s no way I could draw a cluster of climbing Clematis!

Peony’s were just a loose representation of them. The Poppy was printed off too and I colored in with colored pencils.

Some days I just have to be a bit lazy. 😁
