After six seasons as a GYSO cellist, Kathryn Encisco is returning to GYSO Camerata, this time as its conductor.

GYSO gave Kathryn mentors, lifelong friendships, musical challenges and a sense of belonging. Now, she’s helping create those same meaningful experiences for a new generation of young musicians.

On August 13, GSO Jazz! led by Sam Skelton will bring the program “Colors: The Shades of Jazz” to the Chattahoochee Nature Center for a one-of-a-kind outdoor concert experience.

Gates open at 6:00 PM, with music beginning at 7:00 PM. Enjoy the beautiful scenery, a cash bar, and an unforgettable evening of live music under the sunset.

As Sam shared, “Playing in such a serene location as the Chattahoochee Nature Center is a treat for us! The guests are super engaged with both the music and the beautiful surroundings. It doesn't get any better!”

Susan Stensland’s impact on the Georgia Symphony Orchestra will be felt for generations.

Established in 2021 to honor Susan’s retirement, the Stensland Family Fund carries forward the vision she dedicated more than 20 years to building: using music to create connection, comfort, and opportunity for all.

Today, the fund supports musical experiences for individuals and communities who can especially benefit from the power of music, including those with special needs, dementia, PTSD, and others who face barriers to participation.

Honor Susan’s legacy by making a gift to the Stensland Family Fund and help continue the work she believed in.
