Foxy Fall 🦊🍂

I had so much fun making this fox mug in my pottery class at Marietta Cobb Museum of Art earlier this year!

Although I typically do pottery on the wheel, our instructor offered us a special hand building session when our usual slot was all booked up. I loved having the opportunity to get a little more creative with my pieces, especially incorporating sculptural elements, such as this little sleepy fox resting on the edge of the mug!

Kasuti Embroidery 🪡

Last month, my dear friend Diya got married! I had the honor of being part of her special day and small group of attendees for her elopement at City Hall in New York.

When she told me the news, I knew I had to cook up something special! I have always loved Indian embroidery, so I had just the idea.

Kasuti is from the Karnataka region in southern India, which is known for its geometric shapes, almost mimicking cross stitch. And guess where Diya is from! So, I got to work and researched the different types of stitches, patterns, and colors.

In the end, I worked up this design for an embroidered frame to hold a photo from their wedding day.

I absolutely love how it turned out, especially with the intricate patterns and the vibrant colors. My favorite part is the two peacocks at the top, which symbolize good fortune.

Congratulations, Diya! I’m so honored to have been part of your special day!

Do I hear wedding bells? 🔔

My gorgeous friend Maxxe is getting married next fall and what better way to celebrate than with a ring dish for the star of the show?!

I made this dish in my pottery class at Marietta Cobb Museum of Art a few months back and I was especially excited about this one because I got to try a new glaze! Bougainvillea with a touch of honey flux on B Mix, in case anyone is wondering 👀

Anyhow, this beautiful piece is now in its forever home up in Maryland! Yay!

Welcome to the world, Arthur Hawkins! 💙

I had the absolute honor of embroidering the hospital onesie and hat for little Arthur.

He was ready to arrive at any minute, so i was scrambling to get it done before he decided it was time. Thankfully, it was ready with time to spare.

It took lot of test swatches, from fonts to stitches to sizing. But in the end, it turned out perfectly!

He kept everyone one their toes with a short stint in the NICU, but after a few days he was ready for his fashion debut.

Congratulations to first-time parents, Muriel and Wade! Thank you for including me in this small part of Arthur’s debut!

Pretty Little Bunny 🐰

One of my favorite things to do is gift my crochet creations! When I heard my cousin was expecting, I got straight to work—and here is the final result!

This adorable bunny made its way to Berlin, where she lives with my little niece. Doesn’t it look cute in her little toy basket?

And stay tuned! If you’ve been to craft club in the past year, you know that this is only the first of three bunnies! The other ones will be hopping along shortly.

Craft & Yap!

Last month, I had my test run for hosting the Marietta Craft Club meet-up at Mellow Mushroom. Tonight, August 25th, is my first time officially hosting and I can’t wait to see you all!

Are you ready? Are you ready? Are you ready to clown around?

It’s Loontette and Molly, a clown and her dolly, on the Big Comfy Couch! 🌛

I just saw my first Spirit Halloween for the year, so I thought I’d share last year’s Halloween costume! It was a true DIY project.

Since Loonette is quite a “vintage” character, it was hard to find items to make the costume. Molly isn’t in production anymore and eBay prices are through the roof. If I could find a shirt like Loonette’s, it was cheap quality or for children. So, to the drawing board!

With my crochet skills, I thought I could just make a Molly. While no super accurate patterns exist, I found this old TikTok of a girl making her own pattern. She even said she’d send people her rough draft, but I never received a response. So…I screenshotted the notes from the video, transcribed them, and formatted them. And even made my own edits! Eventually, I made post it online for others to use (with credit of course!). But, this is how she turned out! Lots of time and effort in this one…

For the shirt, my lovely coworker and friend helped me with her Circut Machine! She printed all of the moons and noses, applied them with me, and then I drew on the eyes.

Overall, I think this may be one of my best costumes yet! How am I going to top it???
