I thought library etiquette would be to not approach someone working and ask to take pictures of them lol I was wrong. Anyway, I ended up in Des Moines and I couldn’t believe that I wanted to spend the most time at the capital building. But that’s where this epic Victorian library is, so obviously, I had to go be there too.

Working on this still. I know.

“I Thought I Was Fading” 2020-2023 ✨ mounted to hand-cut panel and varnished 🔪

My favorite facts about this painting are:
1. The dresses took 100 hours to paint, that doesn’t include drawing them.
2. The background was inspired by “Portrait of a Princess” by Pisanelloa, a painting I saw at The Louvre.
3. The shape was inspired by a plaque I saw in Edinburg.
4. The white is the paper that shows through, the black is also watercolor.
5. Be careful of any eyes that appear off of a person in my paintings, they are watching you 🔪🔪🔪
