🎙️ NEW EPISODE: Building Your Birth Team

A strong birth team isn't the biggest team. A strong team is the right people, in the right roles. This episode walks through exactly who belongs on your team (provider, doula, support person, and the often-forgotten postpartum care lead), what to ask each of them before labor starts, and what a Cochrane review of 15,000+ women found about continuous labor support.

UPDATE: Hey everyone! The Spotify episode has been updated to remove the 5min empty space at the beginning 🤭

New episode is live! 🎙️ This week I'm talking about the fourth trimester, the stuff nobody really warns you about. The cramping during feeds, the swelling that lingers, the rage that catches you off guard, and why "rest when the baby sleeps" was never a real plan. I asked real moms what surprised them most, and paired it with the evidence behind why it happens.

If pregnancy has you drowning in conflicting advice and ashamed you still don't know what's normal, I have a solution for you!

That was me! As someone who had nothing to go off of besides entertainment and high school biology class, I had no idea what I was going through or why it was happening. Fear of the birth was building and joy in the pregnancy was being stolen.

This week on Beloved Motherhood... my very first episode is live! 🎙️ I'm walking you through all three trimesters, including what your body is actually doing, the symptoms nobody warns you about, and where faith actually meets you in the hard parts.

PHEW! 😌 This life can get so busy and time just always seems to go faster! Hi everyone! Miss me? 😉

I wanted to pop in, while I'm rearranging and planning exciting things, to talk about a recent birth! I love birth stories! 🥰

On the 26th, a beautiful little baby boy was born into such a spirit led family! And his birth truly showed the resilience of a mom, the peace of a father, and the timing of God!

This mama, she is a warrior! Not many things with her birth went as planned, from the prolonged labor to the fears of cord complications and possibilities of unexpected outcomes. She stuck to her advocacy, she spoke for what she needed and asked all the right questions. She took it one step at a time and pivoted where she saw fit. When I say she's resilient, I mean the type of mama resilience that only comes when you are running on empty - with lack of sleep and limited food. When she felt completely spent, she surrendered it all to God.

All the while, dad was a solid rock of peace and stability in the midst of what felt like curveball after curveball. Relying on God, trusting me as their support, and checking in on mom, being present the way Jesus did in the storm. There's a powerful force in any room where peace is kept.

THEN GOD! God has a habit of making His perfect timing always seem so last minute to us, but isn't that also the point? Stuck at 6cm, waiting for shift change, feeling like there was nothing left to give, God stepped in and stepped up in a big way and gave this mama the delivery she wanted, and she finally progressed to 10cm and +2 station (after a total of 5 days contracting and laboring). Mom moved into a semi-reclined position, dad and nurse helped to stabilize her legs and shorten the birth canal, I played a pushing game of Tug of War with the Rebozo, and then, few pushes to help baby get around that pelvic bone, then one push and she welcomed that sweet boy right into her arms with no complications 🙌

Welcome Home little man, you are deeply loved and cared for. The arms that welcomed you will continue to hold you in all you do. Welcome Home.

Freedom looks different in every season of motherhood.

Sometimes it's the freedom to ask for help. Sometimes it's the freedom to trust your body and your baby. Sometimes it's just the freedom to breathe for one minute in the middle of a hard day.

This Fourth of July, I'm celebrating the freedom we have as mothers to choose informed, empowered paths through pregnancy, birth, and those tender newborn days. The freedom to do it all rooted in faith, not fear.

"As a mother comforts her newborn, so I will comfort you." Isaiah 66:13. Wishing your family a holiday full of joy, rest, and connection. 🇺🇸💜

💜 The Hormone Behind Labor & Bonding: Oxytocin

Did you know one hormone helps power your contractions and helps you fall in love with your baby? Meet oxytocin: the body's "go" hormone for labor and "connect" hormone for bonding.

During labor: Oxytocin is released in pulses, helping your uterus contract more strongly so your cervix can open and baby can descend. It's a beautiful feedback loop: each contraction prompts more oxytocin, building the rhythm your body needs.

After birth: That same hormone supports skin-to-skin contact, milk let-down, and the calm, protective feelings that help you respond to your baby. It's one of the threads connecting physical care to emotional attachment.

Why it matters: Oxytocin doesn't flow as freely under stress or fear. Calm support, privacy, and uninterrupted time with your baby help your body do what it was made to do.

"As a mother comforts her newborn, so I will comfort you." ~ Isaiah 66:13 ~

This is exactly why having a doula in your corner matters. Someone to help protect that calm, sacred space so your body's natural design can work the way it's meant to. 💜

👉 Want support that helps you feel confident, prepared, and held through labor and beyond? Send me a message, I'd love to walk this season with you.

Happy Memorial Day everyone! Well, yesterday anyway 😅 While I hope everyone was enjoying time with their families, I spent my day welcoming a precious little baby girl into her own family!

Now, I've known this family for decades, to say they are my best friends is, well, the ABSOLUTE TRUTH 🥰 It was the greatest honor to witness and support their birth journey. This particular story, and family, is very very dear to my heart.

This is one of those stories that really shows how unpredictable birth is and that outcomes are never promised, and that is ok!

This mama went through it! She had her preferences, and when it completely flipped on her from start to finish, she never gave up. Her strength was most evident in her endurance through all 18 hours of laboring to welcome her baby girl. It was definitely not easy, and birth never is, but she powered through it like the warrior I've always known her to be. She leaned into trust in her team, her husband, and God. Her wisdom for every pivot and knowing her limits, were beyond compare.

The dad, my goodness, that dad. He was her perfect teammate, even the nurse mentioned it! His steadiness in being her anchor and her grounding force mixed with his visible love and compassion for his wife and child was the most beautiful image of the 3 strand cord that the Bible talks about. He was so attentive to her needs and her pain, and trusted her intuition when she said something would need to change.

The beauty in this wildly unpredictable birth is unmatched. The strength, the endurance, the wisdom, the trust, the intuition, the steadiness, the love between mom and dad all to welcome their little girl was absolutely awe-inspiring.

All the births I've attended are amazing and have their own special beauty, every single one of them. The ones that go exactly as planned, and the ones like this birth that take on a life of their own.

Hey there, mamas! Between sick kiddos and launching my birth course, life got a little busy behind the scenes recently.

First off, if you are in the thick of late-night feeding and feeling worn out, please take a deep breath. One feed at a time, you are doing beautifully.

Since feeding takes a lot of work, let's talk about a quick tip that changes everything: the latch. A proper, deep latch is essential because it protects your comfort and ensures baby gets enough milk.

You can spot a shallow latch if you notice:
- Clicking or smacking sounds during a feed
- Your ni**le looks flattened or creased afterward
- Persistent pain past the first few seconds

If you are struggling with a painful latch or just want some professional reassurance, I am here to help. You can book a lactation support visit with me for either a cozy in-home session or a virtual consultation.

To wrap things up, let's swap some ideas in the comments. If you have breastfed, what was your favorite nursing-friendly food or drink? We all know that breastfeeding hunger is real, so let me know your go-to snacks below!

The last 48 hours have been a reminder of what motherhood is really all about. Between launching my birth course and tending to sick kiddos these past two days, my hands and my heart have been completely full.

Because life gets full (and trust me, I totally get it) I had a few mamas reach out who missed the launch day cutoff while they were taking care of their own littles.

So, let's extend some grace. I’m giving the special 'Grace Period' price of $47 live through the weekend before the course moves to its standard price on Monday.

This course is real, raw, and recorded from the heart of my own home. You might see a stumble, a glitch, or a laugh in the videos—because that’s motherhood. We focus on the soul-deep truth of birth, not the perfection of production.

If you want to move from fear to confidence and prepare for birth with a foundation of faith, DM me 'ROOTED' this weekend and I will personally get you set up.
