Sometimes growth looks less like gaining something new and more like losing our taste for what no longer belongs in our lives.

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
-Colossians 3:2

God did not create us to stay stuck in the same cycles, chasing the same crumbs, or settling for what keeps us confined to a little box. He calls us higher. He strengthens us to rise above what once distracted, tempted, or defined us.

I think as humans, with our natural worldly desires, we can get caught up believing that a blessing must always look like bigger, better, or more. I know for me, when I think about blessings, I often overlook the ones that came in the form of subtraction.

The subtraction of habits.
The subtraction of people.
The subtraction of desires that no longer align with where God is leading me.

Sometimes God’s goodness is found not only in what He places in our hands, but in what He helps us finally release.

Today, I’m grateful that God made me for more. More peace. More purpose. More discipline. More faith. More of Him.

And I’m thankful that as He changes my heart, He also changes my appetite.

Today, be grateful for what God has added to your life, but don’t overlook the blessing of what He has subtracted. Sometimes the removal is the very thing making room for what comes next.

Lord, thank You for loving me enough not to leave me where You found me. Help me release what is beneath where You are calling me, set my mind on things above, and keep my eyes fixed on You.
