Big things are happening — and you’re invited!

The Open Eye Theater of Margaretville, New York, and The Masterworks Theater Company invite you to a special New York City reading of THE SPRINGVALE ARMADILLO by Donald Loftus. Join us for a special Industry reading of The Springvale Armadillo by Donald Loftus on Monday, June 22 at 7:00 PM at Theater 555 in New York City.

This powerful drama of survival, inspired by a true story, reunites the original cast from the World Premiere Production presented by The Open Eye Theater in Margaretville last fall.

One thing we’re especially proud of? Work that begins right here in our Catskills community is reaching NYC stages and audiences. The Open Eye Theater continues to prove that exciting, professional, deeply moving theater can grow right here in the mountains — while connecting artists, audiences, and collaborators far beyond our region.

To help keep theater accessible for everyone, today’s performance is being offered as **Pay What You Will**, with a suggested ticket price of **$15 per person**.

Looking for something magical to do with the kids this weekend? Join us at The Open Eye Theater on Saturday, May 23 at 2 PM for *Mariposa Butterfly* — a heartwarming children’s play filled with imagination, puppetry, and a wonderful message for audiences of all ages.

Before the curtain rises, children can take part in a fun puppet-making workshop and create something special of their own!

Tickets are a suggested $15, but as always, we offer a pay-what-you-will option so everyone can attend.

The Open Eye Theater Playtime on WIOX Community Radio Catskills, 91.3 FM, and streaming everywhere at www.wioxradio.org, invites you to a discussion with José Casas, Sandra Fenichel Asher, actors, Lisa Ruth Mays, Victoria Vogrincic, Glenna Yu, percussionist, Marcel Smith, set designer David Hill and set dresser, Marge Helenchild on the upcoming production of MARIPOSA/Butterfly at The Open Eye Theater.

José Casas is a playwright and associate professor who heads the playwriting minor program at the University of Michigan. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild as well as a board member of Children’s Theatre Foundation of America.

Sandra Fenichel Asher’s plays have been produced nationally and abroad. She is a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts grant in playwriting, AATE's Charlotte Chorpenning Award for a distinguished body of work in children's theatre, and AATE's Sara Spencer Artistic Achievement Award for lifetime contributions to the field.

MARIPOSA/Butterfly is about two neighbors’ who live side-by-side in Texas. One was born in the U.S., the other in Mexico. One speaks English, the other Spanish. Their differences have kept them far apart—until the mariposa/butterfly unites them in wonder, sadness and a new understanding of the beautiful world they share.

Day one of our Free School Matinees was amazing! Students from South Kortright Central School made puppets and participated in a butterfly parade in beautiful Margaretville, NY.
Every little face was smiling watching this wonderful and touching play. Today is day two and South Kortright will be back again! Saturday May 23rd at 2PM is our first public performance. We would love to see you there. Tickets are $15 suggested with a PAY WHAT YOU WILL option.
