First off, let’s talk about our greatest love ❤️ of Mardela Speedway…… The’ One, The’ Only, Mrs. Cindy Lee!! ❤️ A little over two weeks ago Cindy started a treatment program. Cindy has been progressively feeling better each day and gaining weight! Please send extra vibes and prayers her way, as next week she has a scan to verify that the cancer has not spread. While we had hoped this scan would have been performed sooner, this is the earliest date that this insurance covered procedure could be performed here locally by our inefficient medical system. She just received the results from a bone density scan and nothing has changed since 2019.

We cannot thank everyone enough for the phone calls, texts, visits, flowers, dinners, and warm wishes, and prayers that our racing family and extended have sent her way!!! Very much appreciated and very helpful in keeping a positive spirit!!!

Well… Here we are once again on the eve of a possible race at Mardela Speedway, and weather is the factor. Not that it hasn’t been a factor all week, as we received 1.33 inches of rain the first of the week, and received another 1.4 inches last night, with more significant rainfall forecasted for tomorrow. Unfortunately, there will be no racing tomorrow, Saturday, August 22nd, at Mardela Speedway.

Our next event will be on Friday, September 11th, followed by points racing again on Saturday, September 12th, with added Pro Races!

Hold on… This is the beginning of our 2 day shows, fun time extravaganza of Racing!!! Hopefully, combined with less humid, cooler temperatures, which would certainly be best for Cindy, we should finish off this season with some great racing, camaraderie, and just plain all good times!!! 👍💪🏁

First off, many thanks to everyone who has called or texted to check on Cindy. Last Thursday, Cindy had an endoscopy and tissue was taken for biopsies. Earlier this week we were informed that Cindy has stomach cancer. The pathology report confirmed the same cell markers as her breast cancer, almost 13 years ago. Sadly, we have all witnessed Cindy losing weight since last fall. Some of the weight loss was from changing a progesterone medication, which had caused her much inflammation, fluid retention, and weight gain over a period of years. So, the change in this medication had a desirable effect, but unfortunately, the weight loss continued. In recent weeks, Cindy has become more frail and easily tired. The local healthcare system, which she worked in for 37 years, the one she trusted, unfortunately, has failed her, as local healthcare has become very un user-friendly, very untimely, extremely inefficient, and controlled by money. It’s a system, it’s not health care. As of tonight, she is still waiting for the office of local oncologists to return calls. How pathetic.

Fortunately, this situation has been pursued in an aggressive fashion, and the first of next week we will be taking Cindy to two different cancer centers, far from here. We have a lot of RACING left to do, and we need a battle plan. Cindy and I do this together, from cutting the grass, fixing things, working on the track together, promoting a race, wrapping things up, putting equipment away, and gathering the trash, and you name it. We are a TEAM that always strives to do the best for you the racer. We need our Cindy! We need to get her healthy!

Cindy is physically and emotionally exhausted. We are both emotionally exhausted. We need your prayers.

In 2014, when Cindy and I started cutting the grass at Mardela Speedway, just so it would maintain the look of a speedway, she was finishing up her chemotherapy and radiation from breast cancer that was diagnosed in 2013. Here are some pictures from that timeframe, when unfortunately, she lost her hair to then wear a wig, and later was able to sport an attractive short hairstyle. We have been trying to remind her of just how tough she is. After her surgery, like the next day, she did a 5K walk with our girls to support breast cancer awareness. She never missed a day of work at Beebe Medical, and worked at Mardela Speedway. I am blessed to be her husband. She is a beautiful person inside and out. She cared about her patients, unlike many who are just putting in time, and I know because even retired many of her patients still stay in touch with her and visit her.

Unfortunately, we will not be racing this weekend, but with a battle plan in place we will be racing on August 22nd.

We need to maintain Cindy’s strength for next week. 🏁

Black flag 🏴 conditions at Mardela Speedway….

Mardela Speedway and surrounding areas received significant amounts of hard rain this week. Wet conditions have prevented track repair and grooming.

Please send any positive vibes to Cindy. She is experiencing a slower than expected recovery from a medical procedure this week.

There will be no racing tomorrow, July 25th, at Mardela Speedway.

Our next scheduled race will be next Saturday, August 1st.

Black flag 🏴 conditions at Mardela Speedway….

On Monday, Mardela Speedway and surrounding areas received over 2 inches of hard rain. Necessary track grooming was not possible until Thursday. Unfortunately, the track received another real “toad soaker” on Thursday night. Track conditions have been compromised, and more rain and storms are forecasted.

Sad to report there will be no racing tomorrow, July 11th, at Mardela Speedway. 👎

Our next scheduled race will be July 25th, and Yes, we will now be racing on August 1st, rain date for this cancellation.

Sad to report there will be no racing tomorrow, June 27th, at Mardela Speedway as by all forecasts Mother Nature will be the winner 🏁. 👎
