Unique Plein Air Event Coming!

When: Saturday, September 19, 2026
Where: Hard Bargain Farm, 2201 Bryan Point Road, Accokeek MD 20607
What: Paint out at a beautiful farm led by Maria Barga from 8 am-noon, followed by a wet hanging with awards and no-commission sales.

This is a special opportunity to paint, show and sell at a scenic farm and educational foundation on rolling fields with an old farmhouse, livestock, and views of the Potomac River.

We’re celebrating the Fall Open All‑Media Show with a warm, welcoming afternoon in the gallery. Several participating artists will be on hand, ready to chat, share insights, and enjoy the day with you. Expect great conversation, light snacks, and plenty of inspiring artwork to explore.

Island Music Company has opened the Town Center Building hallways to Mattawoman Creek Art Center artists, creating a new satellite gallery in downtown La Plata. Stop by to enjoy original artwork from local creators as you walk through the music‑filled halls.

We’ll be taking in art for the upcoming Fall Open All‑Media Show, and we’re excited to see what everyone brings. The suggested theme for this show is Recognizing Southern Maryland – 250 Years, inviting artists to celebrate the history, stories, and spirit of our region.

Artwork Intake:
Friday, Aug. 28: 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 29: 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 30: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Using Perspective in Your Art
With Deborah Buelow

Saturday, September 19, 2026 - 1:00 - 4:00 pm
$54 for MCAC members / $65 for non-members

This class will introduce you to 1, 2, and 3-point perspective and provide you with creative ways to utilize perspective in your artwork. You will then incorporate it into a landscape drawing to take home.

SUPPLY LIST: Students should bring a drawing pad or sketchbook, a pencil, and an eraser.

Salvador Dalí, the king of weird and wonderful art, had a pet ocelot named Babou — and he took it everywhere.
Restaurants, galleries, even fancy events… Babou was right there beside him, spotted fur and all.

Because when you’re Dalí, ordinary pets just won’t do.
