Hailed as “the most exciting vocal group in a generation," WINDBORNE comes to the Me&Thee for the first time on Friday, Oct. 16 at 8pm. Tickets on sale now at meandthee.org

Praised for "the purity of their voices, strength of their material, and attention to detail in their arrangements," Lynn Rowan, Will Rowan, Lauren Breunig, and Jeremy Carter-Gordon share a vibrant energy onstage — their connection to each other and to the music clearly evident. They educate as they entertain, telling stories about the music and explaining the character­istics and stylistic elements of the traditions in which they sing. WINDBORNE sprang to wide recognition after singing a 19th century protest song outside Trump Tower which went viral, gaining over a million views.

They are traveling to Marblehead after completing their concert at the famous St Martin-in-the-Fields Church in London, which is celebrating its 300th anniversary. As the late Brian O’Donovan of WGBH and NPR once wrote: “The best musical discovery of the year ... Stunningly powerful vocal harmony ... Windborne sets a new bar for folk harmony singing today.”

This internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble is known for their stunningly powerful arrangements and their ability to shift effortlessly between drastically different styles of traditional music within the same concert. While their musical knowledge spans many continents and cultures, they remain deeply rooted in the American singing traditions they have embodied since childhood.

Last Friday night was like a musical embrace. R.J. Cowdery and Hope Dunbar exemplified the warmth and connection that is the soul of Me and Thee Music. Their comfortable camaraderie swept through the room and mesmerized the audience from the moment they took the stage. “Beautiful evening” and “wonderful show” abounded from the audience savoring the lingering warmth of the evening’s musical haven.

Rj Cowdery and Hope Dunbar present great music from the heartland at the Me&Thee on Friday, Oct 2. Tickets only available at meandthee.org

Rj’s music is driving and lyric-rich, and her unique approach has been validated by her wins at the Kerrville New Folk contest and the Mountain Stage New Song contest, not to mention winning at Falcon Ridge Emerging Artist and Sisters Folk Festivals too. She’s played at venues like 30A, The Ark, The Bluebird, and Vancouver Island Folk Festival. We’re excited to welcome her back to the Me&Thee.

Joining her will be singer-songwriter Hope Dunbar, whose music is a blend of Americana prairie style with a mix of country-folk sounds. From her unique vantage point in tiny Utica, Nebraska, Dunbar writes semi-autobiographical songs about everyday things, the life that she has, and a world that she imagines. With the honest vulnerability she is known for, coupled with her Americana-​folk-​country musical blend, her unforgettable voice, and a strong desire to connect with the beauty of the ordinary, Dunbar has expanded her musical palette to include more synth tones and samples to aid in her expression of the elsewhere.
