Artistry In Wood

Artistry In Wood Artistry In Wood Handcrafted by Kitty-Ann Boriack. Kitty, the artist, uses a scroll saw to follow the pattern lines and cut out all the individual “pieces”.

The artwork entails a long process of construction starting with the transfer of a line drawing onto a piece of one-inch-thick lumber that is sized according to the final picture dimensions. She routers and sands each and every piece of wood. Then reassembles the picture, much like putting a puzzle together. To add depth to her woodcraft, she varies the thicknesses of the wooden parts, makes the b

ackground pieces thinner and the foreground pieces thicker. After painting all the segments and letting them dry, Kitty once again assembles the project and glues it together. She finishes the wooden picture by mounting it on a backboard, adding a frame, and coating it with clear gloss spray.
