đTODAY IS THE DAY! It's a resplendent summer day, made for an evening of music at Codfish Hollow!⨠(read to the end. It's worth it.)
Tonight's show brings The Talbott Brothers and Wolfskill & the Wild together in a sort of a homecoming - emotional, if not physical. It's particularly poignant this week as we walked home someone dear to all who experienced Codfish in earlier days. We all love and miss you, Marv. â¤
Nick & Ty Talbott grew up surrounded by music, in a way that's familiar to us all. Whether tapes recorded from the radio, burned CDs, or glued to CMT and VH1 the brothers Talbott soaked in stories and brought them to life through song, embracing the influence of a rural, blue-collar upbringing and unapologetic authenticity, shared through brotherly harmonies. Their songs explore leaving home only to find that home comes with you in the unexperienced expanses, later stitched together to demonstrate "how the heart can hurt and heal and lead us to new experiences we never thought possible." (Nick Talbott)
Kicking things off, we welcome Wolfskill & the Wild - a classically-trained violinist and a songwriting troubadour who, along with their friends, form a musical fusion that blends alt-folk with contemporary strings, all in an homage to the Driftless Region that makes this corner of Iowa so special.
đ¤ARRIVAL: Doors are at 6pm and the show begins at 8:00pm. Campsites can be set up after 4pm.
Tickets will be available at the gate for $40. Online sales ($35) will end at 4pm.
đTHE BUS: The cow pasture/parking lot/campgrounds invites a leisurely stroll down a dusty country road, before turning into the Barn lane. While offering an impressive view of the Hollow spanse, if hoofin' it ain't your thing, Sister Tracy's got yer seat reserved on our 'Cool bus that'll deliver you to a little slice of heaven . Throw her a little something to show your appreciation for saving your soles. (Not your souls though - she's not that kind of Sister. You're on your own in that regard.) â¤
âď¸CHECK IN/TICKET GATE: Present your photo ID to receive a wristband. Screenshot your tickets ahead of time - cell service is sketchy out yonder. Regardless of how you purchased tickets, everyone checks in the same way.
â ď¸A note on resellers. We donât endorse, validate, nor are we responsible for tickets that have been resold by others. We canât verify them, canât guarantee them, and if you get to the gate and your code/name/etc has already âchecked inâ, there's not much we can do. We'll feel bad. You'll feel bad. It's just bad.
đ¸$$$: Bring cash monies for art, food, beers, merchandise, folks to tip, etc. There is an ATM, but there ainât no bank in these here parts and sometimes the cash machine runs dry.
đ FOOD/ALCOHOL: NO outside food or drink past the ticket gate - neither in, nor out. Consume any food or beverages before checking in. You canât drink ON the bus. While we've got you, can we agree weâre all adults? Please know your limits and pre-game responsibly.
We have a fabulous assortment of crap (yes, crap) beers in addition to some fine locally made craft beers, wine, hard ciders, THC/CBD beverages, and seltzers! Youâre gonna want to try the award-winning Arnold or Merigene from Maquoketa Brewing and Barnstorminâ Ale from the good gents at Jubeck Brewing in Dubuque.
Merigene is love in a can and Arnold is the reason we're all gatherin'. The same could be said for Merigene, but we'll give Arnie the credit since he built this barn with his own calloused mitts.
We've got Hangry Hobo feeding you this eve, so come with an empty belly and enjoy some food truck vittles al fresco!
âş FREE CAMPING: We welcome tents, car snoozers, campers and RVs but ask that those with generators stick to the edges of camp to make sure everyone can catch some ZZZs. Watch out for cow pies cuz youâre in a cow pasture and cows are terrible hosts. Itâs free, itâs rustic, itâs guaranteed to be a unique experience but there are no electric or water hookups â it's primitive AF, folks. Community fire rings are available. NO out of state firewood, please!
đźď¸WE LOVE OUR ART COMMUNITY! We are thrilled to feature many local artists and vendors who will share their talents with you. Please bring some extra cash to help support these local peeps, out here sellinâ their wares and spreading their love.
đPURSES/BAGS/BACKPACKS: You may bring in purses, bags, etc. however our kind, considerate security personnel will check them upon entry. If you have a clear bag/backpack, itâs much easier for all involved but you do you, boo.
đŞLAWN CHAIRS/BLANKETS: Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the lovely hillside views and hear all the music, however lawn chairs are NOT allowed in the barn. There is extremely limited seating inside which are first-come, first seated. **If you require special accommodation, please contact us prior to show day for assistance. We're happy to help any way we can!
âźď¸THIS IS A *LISTENING* VENUEâźď¸
This is long but important. Everyone needs to be able to enjoy the performance they paid for. You made this trek, paid hard earned doll-hairs, to experience this musician. You did NOT come to hear some stranger next to you, loudly discussing any number of things you really donât give a s**t about. If you find yourself trying to out-shout the music, please go outside - or we may ask you to do so. By all means, sing along at the top of your lungs but please, PLEASE take those convos outdoors.
đ¤ The world is a wild place these days, friends. Our blip is shorter than we know and all we have is each other. So please be oh so good to yourselves and tell those you love how much they mean to you. Forgive often, feel deeply, give benefit of the doubt, and speak your truth in ways that make people want to join you (thanks Notorius RBG). We're all just walking each other home, after all.
Now bring your lovingest self out to storm this freakin Barn so hard that Marvy, Arnold, Merigene, and all our souls in the ether feel our love! đ¤
