THE CALL OF EVIL

Yasha is an emerging artist with a passionate spirit. Sophia is a gifted travel writer whose adventurous nature carries her across the world. When their paths cross, an unexpected attraction becomes a profound love—one that promises them a lifetime together.

Then, in a single horrifying night, everything is destroyed.

At a friend’s birthday celebration, Sophia becomes the victim of a brutal assault by two men whose cruelty leaves wounds far deeper than anything visible. Unable to escape the pain and memories of what was done to her, Sophia takes her own life, leaving Yasha devastated and alone.

For Yasha, losing Sophia is not simply heartbreak. It is the loss of the woman who gave meaning to his life. Haunted by memories of their travels, laughter, passion, and plans for the future, he retreats into grief, alcohol, and his art. Sophia remains everywhere—in photographs, in dreams, in his paintings, and in the conversations he still imagines having with her.

Searching for some way to survive the past, Yasha eventually moves to a place where he and Sophia once shared happier days. There, surrounded by memories he cannot leave behind, he attempts to rebuild his life.

Then he meets Kate.

Beautiful, independent, and guarded, Kate carries wounds of her own. Betrayed by the husband she once trusted, she has convinced herself that love is a mistake she will never make again. Yasha believes much the same. His heart still belongs to Sophia, and loving another woman feels almost like betraying her memory.

Yet neither Yasha nor Kate is prepared for what begins to grow between them.

As friendship becomes desire and desire deepens into something neither expected, Yasha faces a painful question: Can a man remain faithful to the great love he lost while allowing himself to love again?

At its heart, The Call of Evil explores the terrible consequences of cruelty—but also what evil cannot completely destroy. It is a story of grief and memory, passion and temptation, broken trust and second chances, and the struggle to find light after an unimaginable darkness.

Some loves change us. Some losses haunt us. And sometimes, when hope seems impossible, the heart finds a reason to live again.

The Persian Lover / Creed and Greed is a sweeping story of love, ambition, sacrifice, and the enduring search for belonging. Set against the dramatic social and political changes of twentieth-century Iran, Naser D. Shahrivar’s novel follows Babak from a spirited childhood marked by poverty and tragedy into a complicated adulthood shaped by romance, desire, ambition, and difficult choices.

Growing up in Iran, Babak learns early that hardship does not extinguish the desire to live fully. As a boy, he roams the streets with his brother and cousins, finding adventure and mischief despite the struggles surrounding them. At fourteen, his world changes when he is introduced to forbidden love, sensual awakening, and the heartbreak that can accompany both. These early experiences begin a lifelong journey in which love repeatedly competes with Babak’s hunger for success and a better life.

Believing America holds the future he longs for, Babak eventually leaves his homeland behind. In pursuing success and recognition, however, he sacrifices some of the things that once mattered most—true love, family, and a sense of belonging. After thirty years of disappointment and searching, he returns to Iran expecting to rediscover the comforts of home, only to encounter a country transformed by political turmoil and revolution.

There, the past and present collide. Memories of lost love resurface as Babak witnesses the suffering of a homeland he barely recognizes. Faced with oppression and uncertainty, he must summon the courage to stand alongside old friends and new while confronting his own mistakes and the consequences of the choices that have shaped his life. At the same time, the possibility of new love offers him something he once believed had been lost forever.

More than a romance, The Persian Lover / Creed and Greed is a human story unfolding within a turbulent period of Iranian history. It moves between intimate relationships and political upheaval, between the pursuit of personal dreams and the responsibilities we carry toward the people and places we love. Babak’s journey is sometimes tragic, sometimes passionate, and at other times unexpectedly hopeful.

You might ask, what is the plot behind Naser’s new book “The Call of Evil”

We need you opinion.

Well here it is:

After losing the woman he loved to a devastating tragedy, acclaimed artist Yasha retreats into a world of grief, memories, and unfinished dreams. Haunted by Sophia’s absence and unable to escape the life they once shared, he moves to a quiet coastal town hoping distance might bring him peace.

Instead, his sorrow begins finding its way onto the canvas.

From a haunting vision emerges The Call of Evil—a mysterious painting of a frightened young woman caught between dark, angelic figures. As the painting takes shape, so does a new chapter in Yasha’s life.

There he meets Kate, a beautiful and independent woman carrying wounds of her own, and Julie, her warmhearted best friend, whose quiet compassion becomes an unexpected source of comfort. Slowly, friendship awakens into attraction, and Yasha is forced to confront a question he never expected to face: Can a heart that still belongs to someone who is gone ever truly belong to someone new?

But love does not arrive alone.

Jealousy, temptation, betrayal, buried secrets, and dangerous misunderstandings begin to surround Yasha and the people closest to him. As the past repeatedly collides with the present, he must decide whether grief will define the rest of his life—or whether loving again can become an act of courage rather than betrayal.

The Call of Evil is a story of enduring love, devastating loss, desire, friendship, betrayal, and the difficult journey back to life after the person you believed you could never live without is gone.

*Which log-line do you feel works best at describing this up-coming book? 1 or 2?

1. After losing his beloved wife to a brutal tragedy, a grief-stricken artist retreats into memory and paints The Call of Evil—only to find himself caught between the love he cannot let go of and the unexpected chance to love again.

Or, a slightly more suspenseful version:

2. Haunted by his wife’s tragic death, an artist struggles to rebuild his life as love, betrayal, and the dark secrets surrounding The Call of Evil force him to choose between living in the past and risking his heart again.
