🐦💛 A recently fledged Yellow Warbler begs for another meal while its parent delivers food.

One of my favorite parts of birding isn’t just identifying birds—it’s getting to witness behaviors like this.

A desert oasis doesn’t even sound real until you stand in one. 🏜️

Havasupai was unforgettable.

More from the adventure (and the birds hidden inside this canyon) coming soon. 🪶

A little backyard attitude from one of Utah’s best looking sparrows.
The hop. The spin. The signature tail flash.

Green-tailed Towhee feels like it’s performing for an audience. 🌿

Spotlight Species — Week 2: Harriers & Accipiters 🦅

This is one of those weeks where “how they hunt” matters as much as “how they look.”

Northern Harriers float low over open fields like they’re on patrol.
Accipiters (Cooper’s, Sharp-shinned, Goshawk) are the opposite—fast turns, long tails, and sudden bursts through trees.

Here’s what to watch for (and where to find them in Utah):

Seen one lately—field drive-by, neighborhood fly-through, or a feeder moment? Drop it in the comments. Phone pics and quick stories are always welcome.

Bird your way.

Harriers and accipiters hunt Utah’s winter landscapes in completely different ways—one floats low over open fields, the other strikes fast through trees. Learn where to find them, what to watch for, and how to notice the clues that matter most.
