Well, today has been one to remember!! I had my trash and recycle bags in the elevator and I got in and pushed the down button. As it moved it stopped between floors! I used the phone in the elevator to call m y friend Sarah Johns for help. As soon as I hung up the phone the lights went out and the phone did not work!! Sarah showed up with Lynda Burek and she pushed a button that brought the elevator up to the kitchen and I was able to get out! Later we went to the marina for cocktails and now I am watching Jeopardy! Life is good!.

Some days, the best way to quiet a busy mind is to trade deadlines for a shoreline and let the rhythm of the water take over.

There is something wonderfully restorative about warm sand, soft evening light, and nowhere else to be for a little while.

A beach day may not solve everything, but it can remind us to breathe, slow down, and return to ourselves.

We found a 120+ year old shipwreck buried in the beach at Hatteras. 🤯⚓️

This is the Flambeau Road wreck, an unidentified wooden ship believed to date back to the late 1800s or early 1900s.

And this thing is BIG — roughly 153 feet long and 30 feet wide, with most of it still buried under the sand.

Hundreds of huge iron spikes still stick out of the original timbers. Depending on the tides, storms and shifting sand, the wreck can disappear completely and then show itself again years later.

It’s been studied by archaeologists, but here’s the coolest part…

Nobody knows what ship it actually was.

More than a century later, its real name is still a mystery.

Only in the Graveyard of the Atlantic. 🌊⚓️
