50+ art teachers from around the state of Texas, +50 pounds of scrap paper (including sooooo many of my unfit “failures”) plus gallons of adhesive and paint= 2x three hour workshops working with layers, textures, and negative space. This kicked my butt! I still haven’t unloaded the remaining 35 pounds of paper from my truck.😂😂❤️🤩

Art Day with the 15th Leadership Mansfield - class of 2025! This group of amazing leaders fearlessly dove into an art project without having any sense of what the final outcome would be❤️. We painted papers, came up with quotes about community, painted individual pieces of a tree, then collaged everything together in teams ❤️❤️❤️ always one of my favorite days of the year - even through torrential storms ❤️

10/2017. Texas A&M Law School hired me to create this 36 x 36 piece of mixed media art, and make 1000 signed limited edition prints. They sent prints to (every?) law school in the country. I wonder if any of them are hanging in the halls or offices of those schools today?

This piece is/was so far out outside of my comfort zone. It required a precision that I usually avoid rather than embrace. I hand cut each of the letters that makes up the larger image, often having to cut them in half, or third, or just an odd corner, so that it would fit the light or dark value of the background.

I didn’t keep a copy.
However, if you feel so inclined, you’re welcome to print one out for yourself. Sometimes the uncomfortable things we create that we don’t think matter that much, actually matter more than anything else. Hang it on your wall, stick it in your pocket or wallet, maybe glue it to a poster this Saturday, or staple it to a bunch of lamp posts. Just hold your finger on the image, save it, then print it.

I’ll never be able to create a piece of art like this again, now that my vision is permanently warped. And that’s OK.
I hope someone finds inspiration, use, or beauty in this piece. Again, I encourage you to use it as you feel, and I am not looking for compensation. If you feel compelled to make a small donation anyway:
