AUDITIONS - TODAY AND TOMORROW AT 3PM

The Controversial Rescue Of Fatty The Pig

Cherry Blevins’ house has burned down—her second house in five years. While trying to help save Cherry’s 300-pound pet pig, Fatty, from the flames, Cherry’s brother Floyd and his wife, Connie, are arrested for assault by local law enforcement officer Deputy Dwight Omuhundro. But did they truly assault Dwight? And what started the fire? And why in the world was Cherry keeping a pig for a pet?! As these four characters tell the judge their version of what happened that night and why, they begin to reveal not only the events leading up to the fire, but also all the lost hopes and dreams that make them what they are today. In doing so, they realize that the disappointments of the past don’t necessarily dictate the relationships of the future and that, by attempting to rescue Fatty the Pig, they may have miraculously rescued themselves.

Busy weekend coming up! Rockin' comedian Jack Willhite hits the stage with some chaotic comedy and hilarious parodies of some of classic rockers on Friday, October 2.
Auditions are extended for available roles of our Second Stage production of "The Controversial Rescue of Fatty the Pig" on Saturday and Sunday, October 3&4 at 3 pm. Come on out and have some fun!

“Dear Evan Hansen has always been my favorite show- not just for the music but for the message it conveys. It is a show that is not afraid to take a stand on taboo mental health in a very serious, yet entertaining way. I’ve seen the show on Broadway and having done quite a bit of theatre myself, I have known a majority of the cast/crew for years so my expectations were very high going in. Every single one of those expectations were not only met but exceeded with this amazingly talented cast and crew! I sat in the audience and sang every song. Throughout the show I laughed and had tears running down my face, despite how well I knew the plot prior. The actors had incredible voices and really embodied each character on a personal level. Even my husband, who was never a theatre kid, couldn’t stop talking about how powerful this show was on the way home. After the show the Mansfield Playhouse even went above and beyond to bring in so many local resources for the audience to get more information on and raise awareness to mental health. If there’s one show that you go see at the Mansfield Playhouse this season let it be Dear Evan Hansen. You won’t regret it!”
