One of the things I love most about photography is where it takes me—and the people I get to collaborate with along the way.

I’m grateful for my ongoing relationship with Natasha Weis and Natasha Weis , and for the opportunity to photograph a River Valley Woman cover at least once each year. Yesterday, it was especially fun to see my latest agriculture cover featuring Naomi Mortensen Dorn on display at an event hosted by Luxe Publishing, Greater Mankato Growth RIVER ROCK COFFEE & TEA and First National Bank Minnesota

There’s something pretty special about seeing an image you created out in the world, especially when it celebrates the people and stories of our region.

And next week, I get to do it all over again as we create the next cover, so stay tuned!

Perhaps the most meaningful moment of Tuesday’s investiture wasn’t the oath, it was the robe.

As I watched my brother-in-law, Shawn, assume the office of Circuit Court Judge for Dodge County, Wisconsin, his parents, Roger and Millie, placed around his shoulders the very robe Roger wore while serving as a pastor. It was a quiet but powerful reminder that while God called each of them to different vocations, both were ultimately called to serve God by serving others.

Throughout the ceremony, speaker after speaker shared stories of Shawn’s integrity, humility, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to justice. They also spoke about the husband and father he has remained through the demanding years of practicing law and campaigning for this new role. It quickly became clear that the title of Honorable wasn’t something Shawn had just received that day-it simply reflected the man God had been preparing for this calling for many years.

It was especially meaningful to celebrate alongside so many who have been part of that journey. The courtroom was filled with family, friends, colleagues, and members of the community, and four of Shawn’s five siblings were there to cheer him on. Claire had the honor of singing the National Anthem, and Jess and their children presented Shawn with his gavel-a beautiful reminder that this has been embraced by the whole family.

Congratulations, Honorable Judge Shawn Woller. We are so thankful for the way God has guided your path, and we pray He continues to walk beside you as you seek justice, love mercy, and faithfully serve all who come before your bench.

One of the most rewarding parts of this job is realizing the kids you’ve known for years are suddenly seniors.

I’ve known Philip and his family for a long time, so it’s hard to believe this milestone is already here. It’s also been a privilege to have all three siblings step in front of my lens during their senior year.

An Express Experience was the perfect fit, and there was no question we had to bring his love of golf into the session. It’s an important part of his story.

Congratulations, Philip! Wishing you God’s blessings as you begin this next chapter.

When I planned to have sunflowers 🌻 take over our yard, I figured I’d have a few senior girls scheduled while they were in bloom. Turns out I don’t right now, and I’d LOVE to use my flower jungle before they stop blooming!

If you love these amazing flowers and have been wanting updated portraits, I’ve got an incredible sunflower mini-session deal for you. Send me a message today, and let’s create something beautiful in my sunflower jungle before these blooms are gone! 🌻

Harvest is never just about the crop. It's the culmination of months of hard work, countless decisions, changing seasons, and unwavering dedication. It's the people who rise before dawn, the land that provides, the equipment that makes the work possible, and the traditions passed from one generation to the next. Harvest is more than an event-it's the story of a family's legacy unfolding.

That's what a Legacy Experience is all about.

If you've ever wanted to preserve your family's harvest season, now is the time to reach out. Fall dates are planned well before the combines begin to roll, allowing us to create a personalized experience that documents not only the work, but the legacy behind it.

Because one day, these photographs won't simply remind you what harvest looked like. They'll remind future generations who made it possible.

Your life. Your land. Your legacy.

Every single time I photograph a sunrise Senior Experience I am reminded of why they are so phenomenal. The lighting, the sounds, and the authentic perspective as the world is waking up is amazing!

If you’re a 2027 senior, a morning person, and don’t have your senior photos done yet, let’s talk. I have SO many ideas! As an added bonus, with the dates I have left you wouldn’t even have to wake up very early!

It may have been steamy, but Rebecca’s Senior Experience was perfection! From golf, to golden meadows, it was all the perfect way to tell her story!

As an added bonus it was so fun to be able to see her doing her Miss Bonnie Lass parade duty yesterday!

Over the past week, I've spent a lot of hours writing these two blog posts. More than anything, I wanted to preserve this season for our family—not just through photographs, but through the stories behind them.

Photographs help us remember what happened. The stories help us remember how it felt.

As both a photographer and a mom, this experience reminded me why preserving our family histories matters so much. From engagement portraits to a simple courthouse wedding, these posts capture the joy, faith, laughter, and quiet moments that made this chapter so meaningful to our family.

If you have a few minutes, I'd love for you to read their story in both posts. My hope is that it reminds you to preserve not only the photographs, but also the stories that your family will treasure for generations.

A mother's reflection on her daughter's wedding, engagement photos, and the joy of becoming the mother of the bride while preserving family legacy.
