MANKATO — A mural is taking shape on what was previously a nondescript concrete barrier near Riverfront Park, thanks to a collaboration between the Kiwanis Club, local artists and children.

The kids from Kiwanis families and MY Place got to work on the lower portion of the Mankato Kiwanis Centennial Mural Thursday morning. Joining them was new Twin Rivers Council for the Arts Executive Director Mat Greiner. The mural is being painted onto concrete barriers around Mankato Iron and Metal, across the street from Dotson Iron Castings, to help welcome guests to Riverfront Park. Artist Justin EK is coordinating the design and painting efforts that will incorporate more kids from the community.
