Metro Jam A free 'Musical Oasis' of music in downtown Manitowoc

We are proud to have grown into Manitowoc's premier musical event and are able to bring you two great days of music, featuring a total of ten different acts! It's all presented FREE of charge at downtown Manitowoc's MetroStage in Washington Park, located at Washington and S. 12th Streets, on Friday evening June 17, and all day Saturday, June 18, 2022.

Now that we have finally covered the "heart" of Metro Jam, the music, it is time to thank the "engine" that keeps it all going strong for 47 years!!

A big thanks to all of our sponsors especially MPU, the West Foundation, Novak's Service Center and WOMT 100. WE also want to give a huge shoutout to the Manitowoc Sunrise Rotary Club and the Two Rivers Rotary Club for providing and managing concessions at the park! All working together to make the Lakeshore Community a better place to live!!

Finally thanks to all who attended and support us every year. It wouldn't be the same with you!

One band that we have not featured yet, post set, is The Fordney Brothers Band on Friday evening! Despite the rain, the FBB made it through their entire set without dropping a song! Their performance was enhanced by old friend Biff Hansen, and new to this line up were keyboardist and Grammy award winner, Dennis Wage, saxophonist / flutist John Salerno and drummer extraordinaire Bill Knipfer. The addition of these excellent musicians added new takes on their original songs along with some of their traditional covers. Thanks to all who braved the rain and then made it to Psycho Logic to close the night! Thanks to Mike Appel for the great photos!

What a weekend!! So much to hit on, but let’s get right to the main event, Sonny Landreth! What an amazing guitarist with his own unique, groundbreaking approach to his instrument and the bottleneck slide. Not to mention his own way of picking, strumming (?) and coaxing sounds out of his guitar like no other!! Besides his talents, he is just a nice humble man that truly cares about his audience as evidenced by the time he took to trade stories with many at the park.
