The uber talented Nicole Copel today at Commonwheel Artists....
"After earning my MFA in Ceramics from Kansas State University, I relocated to La Veta, Colorado where I have worked in my studio for over a decade and owned and operated an art gallery. I am an adjunct art instructor at Colorado State University in Pueblo, Colorado and also teach kid’s classes, workshops and private lessons. "
"The potter’s wheel is a tool that I use to create forms that are then frequently altered through removing areas of clay to enhance movement and flowing
lines. I use a variety of firing techniques and have most recently built a soda kiln. The soda ash and water solution sprayed into the kiln at high temperature is evident on the ceramic ware and creates a glaze sheen, directional markings from the spray, and sometimes a slightly raised orange peel-like surface. "

Meet local artist Paul Rogers today at Commonwheel. Paul creates unique decorative pottery, and cast bronze sculptures, as well as beautiful surrealist abstract digital prints. He has been a member of the co-op for 30+ years.

"Currently I work with hand dug native clays from small deposits which are not commercially viable. I use primitive firing techniques, such as pit firing to achieve that certain ambiance. I draw the motifs from primitive animalistic mythology, the dream flights of the KUNG bushmen of the Kalahari Desert, the collective unconscious as a separate reality, and "Dreamtime." These current pieces are composite of the feeling of animal life and spirit, no specific animal but representative of all our fellow beasts; the now long gone great herds of the eastern plains, those extinct, and those of the evolutionary future. Life force, death, birth, humor, playfulness, and intelligence, but especially our spiritual kinship and interdependence are all a wellspring for ideas."

From our vibrant wall artist Teri Rowan of NeonMermaid PrintShop - "Art can transport us to different places & times, allow us to see & experience sights beyond our wildest imagination, weaving us in & out of fantasy. Fantasy that is silver & scarlet, indigo & azure, obsidian veined with gold & lapis lazuli. The best fantasy is created in the language of dreams. It is alive, as dreams are alive, more real than real, for a moment, at least. The very best part about these dreams is that you can take them home, hang them on the wall, and visit as often as you like, because these dreams are for you.The Colorado landscapes I create are fantasy driven and surreal, as are my figurative pieces. Created with archival Canon inks & printed on acid free fine art papers and metal. I offer my artwork as fine art giclée prints, & ready to hang metal prints. "

"Throughout this collection, birds, figures, and symbolic imagery become visual reminders of hope, freedom, peace, and the quiet ways our spirits are lifted. Each painting invites the viewer to pause for a moment and consider where they are in their own journey."

Manager/glass artist Amanda Shotts at Commonwheel Artists .
Rosie the Riveter has always been an inspiration to Amanda who believes that “We CAN Do IT!” She revels in transforming common materials like glass, bottles, and found objects into jewelry
and three-dimensional crafts and artwork. Melting glass has become a type of therapy for her. Knowing the molten glass can burn her fingers keeps her truly focused in the present. Past and future do not apply while utilizing her oxygen/propane torch.
This Lady is one of my own personal heroes.
