KOSAI - This Creekside Gallery show at Commonwheel highlights to the idea of KOSAI by showing media that is iridized breaking light into the vibrant spectrum of color we see in the pottery, glasswork, painting, feather work, kaleidoscopes, and photography brilliantly executed by the participating artists: Tylan Troyer , Teri Rowan , Maggie Quinn , Nitra Olsen Art , Sabine Wachs , Julia Wright , and Nancy and Alan Lindenmier.

Claudia Dimidik at Commonwheel Artists-
As an artist and educator I believe that learning is a lifelong process and my studio in Monument, Colorado allows me to work in a variety of media where the intent of the piece typically dictates the chosen medium. My love for art began in grade school when I received an award for a watercolor painting of a yacht. This then led to a focus on the arts where I was asked to create and design logos, brochures and murals. After earning my B. A. in Art Education, my desire to learn more than one style of art led me to pursue an M.A. in Fine Arts.

About the colorful 3d creations of Ray Jordan - "Art in some form has been part of my life since I was a small child. My grandfather was a master carpenter and he shared his creative spirit and love of sawdust with me at a very early age. In high school I took every art class that was offered along with wood shop and I explored various artful endeavors (quilting, silk-screening, printing press, sketching, painting, etc.) creating things for my home, family and friends. More recently I added acrylics and began producing colorful, 3D, themed pieces adorned with intricate scroll saw cutouts. Finding this artistic voice provided the focus, motivation and confidence to share my art with the outside world."

We find what we pursue. An addictive thing about painting is that I can redefine a view of the world – and if only briefly, I get to live in that world. It’s a shifting, lost-and-found kind of Truth - any definition is fragmentary and has no limits.

Uber talented, long time member, Kathy Sullivan will be in the house this afternoon at Commonwheel Artists Kathy lives in a little Victorian house with a large herb garden and a small gray and white cat. The drawings and prints she does usually reflect her love of gardening, travel, and horses.
She lived in France during college while majoring in French and has been back to Europe on several bicycle trips since that time. Her interest in Europe and things medieval probably spurred her love of calligraphy, which she often combines with her art images. Besides calligraphy and watercolor illustrations, she does hand-colored linoleum prints and large acrylic paintings, as well as adorable felted animals .

Meet local jewelry designer Phyllis Cahill at Commonwheel from 10 to 2 p.m. today!
"I hand-fabricate each piece of jewelry from copper or silver and polymer clay. I like the contrast between shiny and matte that these mediums allow. I use the Japanese mokumé gané technique where layers of different colored polymer clay are impressed with designs and then sliced to reveal a pattern. I also use translucent polymer clay which allows light to pass through it like fine porcelain.
