Assistant Professor of Acting/Directing Joelle Ré Arp-Dunham presented "Experimentations in Acting in Translation" at The S Word: Stanislavsky and the Digital Annual Symposium, June 17-19, 2026. Her presentation outlined her research into how live performance transforms into the digital with motion capture and other media. The conference was sponsored by the Stanislavsky Research Centre (Leeds/Malta) in partnership with the School of Arts and Creative Industries, University of East London.

Intro to the Art of Film
4-Week Asynchronous Online Course Begins June 29

In this course, students will focus on the analysis of films, with attention paid to aesthetics, history, production processes, and criticism.

Films include: Amelie, Winter's Bone, Parasite, Get Out, Rear Window, Small Town Gay Bar, and many more! All films provided.

3 credits (Fulfills Arts & Humanities requirements and counts toward Film Studies Certificate)
The course runs June 29-July 24.

Welcome, Dr. Stasny!

Please help us welcome Dr. Ben Stasny as Teaching Assistant Professor of Acting/Directing.

Dr. Stasny is thrilled to join the faculty at K-State! He is moving to Kansas from Colorado where he has spent the last 6 years actively involved in theatre and education. He received his PhD in Theatre & Performance Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder and became certified as a facilitator of Theatre of the Oppressed from the Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre and Mandala Center for Change.

Before joining K-State, Dr. Stasny worked at Red Rocks Community College in Denver where he developed Open Educational Resources in Musical Theatre History and Theatre Voice & Diction. While in Boulder, Ben directed the plenary session for the United Nations' Annual Global Climate Summit and co-produced two international Stand-Up Comedy Shows about climate change at the Boulder Theater.

Dr. Stasny has a deep passion for improv, musical theatre, interdisciplinary studies, and new work. He looks forward to working with students at K-State and helping them achieve meaningful careers in theatre!
