November in New York has its own rhythm — and this season felt especially meaningful with opening the Breuer building and presenting a program full of depth, discovery, and unforgettable moments.
Spending time across the previews and auctions offered space to slow down, look closely, and reconnect with why these works matter. A highlight was seeing Martin Puryear’s sculpture so thoughtfully installed in the Contemporary Day Sale — a piece I was grateful to guide a client through this season.
Another defining moment was encountering Gustav Klimt’s Bildnis Elisabeth Lederer, a rare and luminous portrait once owned by Leonard A. Lauder and now placed for a record-breaking $236.4M — a reminder of how powerful and multi-layered this market truly is.
From contemporary to modern, from the quiet corners of the viewing rooms to the energy of the sales, this November marked a thoughtful close to the fall season.
Looking ahead to Miami next week — ready for the fairs, the energy, and the conversations to come.
