Manhattan-based artist who channels her unique perspective and sense of humor into vivid abstracts. I feel blessed to have lived my life as a creative person.

Having a mother who was an artist enabled me to see and appreciate the possibilities of self-expression. She taught me to see the beauty in my surroundings. I try not to think too much when I paint, but I would say that I am “thoughtful”. I use shapes to delineate areas of my surface, and start with light shades of color to give life to the forms. Then, ignoring my original lines, I continue to lo

osely define more distinct spaces. I love mixing and using colors that seem illogical, using whatever’s with arm’s reach to build upon my original and secondary forms. I use a piece of plywood (6’ x 3 ½ feet) to clip archival paper to, for my larger pieces, and an easel made for me and a Birchwood H-Frame easel for my horizontal works. I’m currently experimenting with surfaces like cradled Ampersand Gesso boards, birch, and canvas. My studio is my apartment on the Upper West side of Manhattan. I love living with my works in progress. I can go to the fridge, merely glance at a piece, and tweak a change that works! While my paintings vary, stylistically, I’d say there’s a common thread: my love of color, dynamic shapes and pathways. I am buoyed and thrilled by the process. Because of the support I've received from so many of you, I am offering a commission for any referral that leads to a concrete sale of any of my paintings. It' a chance to say thank you and to celebrate the power of art and community.

If your share of my work with anyone results in a sale of one of my pieces, I will, in turn, pay you 20% of that sale (minus the cost of framing and shipping the piece). This is an experiment that could prove to be profitable for both of us. I'll let you know how it goes!

My work falls into the category of “LYRICAL ABSTRACTION”. Or as I often say, “Active Abstracts”. LYRICAL ABSTRACTION is a style of abstract painting that emerged in the mid 20th century. It is categorized by non-representational forms. In other words, I don’t paint ‘real’ things, people or places.

My work is expressive and spontaneous. My brushwork is not predetermined. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I am very connected to my emotions, my moods and my sense of what is beautiful to my eye. I use color, line, and form to convey these.
