It is our pleasure to announce the winning artists of the “Full Bloom” juried group art exhibition:

Jacqui Hart, First Prize $150.
Dan Terry, Second Prize $100.
Karen Romani, Third Prize Solo Show in May.

While many submissions celebrated the beauty of florals, the three winning pieces demonstrated a level of refinement, ambition, and conceptual depth that set them apart. These pieces did more than depict flowers; they show us ecosystems, emotions, and the delicate architecture of living things. The artists approached florals not as objects to be arranged, but as living presences to be understood.

It is our pleasure to announce the winning artists of the “Influences 2” juried group art exhibition:

George Seyffert, First Prize $150.
Jason Shih, Second Prize $100.
Marla Jean Clinesmith, Third Prize Solo Show in April.
Megan Stueber, BLICK Art Materials Award

Each of these four artworks rose to the top of “Influences 2” because they didn’t just demonstrate technical skill, they revealed a deep, self‑aware dialogue between the artist and the forces shaping their art practice. These artists did not just imitate their influences, they activated them, turning inspiration into something unmistakably their own.

It is our pleasure to announce the winning artists of the “Fun In Progress” juried group art exhibition:

Michelle Vezina Peterlin, First Prize $150.
Ingrid Wessel, Second Prize $100.
Noppawan Sereesuntiwong, Third Prize Solo Show in March.

The winning artworks lit up the show with humor, heart, and originality. You reminded us that art is not just serious — it’s seriously fun. You embraced the absurd, the whimsical, and the poetic, proving that joy can be just as profound as sorrow. In a world that often demands seriousness, your art invited us to loosen our shoulders and reconnect with the simple joy of making art.

“In high school, I studied under Walt Bartman, doing oil painting primarily. I was accepted into the Maryland College of Art and Design on a figure drawing scholarship program that they offered to high school students when I was 16. After high school, I went on to pursue my other passion — helping people. I’ve spent the last 25 years working as a psychotherapist. Sometime in the middle of all of that, I had kids (twins), and eventually came back to drawing in 2017. What I do now is primarily self-taught, though I do feel my training and education as a child have created an invaluable foundation for my work today. I’ve watched countless hours of slowed-down YouTube videos and tutorials, and have spent thousands of hours drawing, practicing, and improving. It’s been a wonderful and challenging journey, and I’ve loved every minute of it! My goal moving forward is to continue to learn and challenge myself as I transition to art full-time.

My artistic practice centers on portraiture—on drawing out the unseen essence of a subject and translating it through the delicate control of graphite. I explore the quiet power of detail—each mark is an invitation to slow down, to look closer, and to witness what is often overlooked. Every drawing is a form of deep listening, an act of attention that honors the emotional and psychological presence of the individual.“

“Art isn’t always meant to be so deep and serious. Across centuries artists have also embraced the fun side of making art. The 18th Century Rococo movement blossomed in France, using light colors and ornate designs artists depicted themes of love, play and leisure.
In the early 20th Century Dadaism embraced nonsense, irreverence, and anti‑establishment humor. Dadaists took it upon themselves to challenge the seriousness of art itself. Pop Art was created by artists in the 1950’s as a way to convey their fascination with everyday objects and mass culture. Pop artists believe that art is everywhere—on supermarket shelves, in advertising, and in the rhythms of daily life. Our February online group art exhibition “Fun In Progress” celebrates fun & play and the art of not taking yourself too seriously. With contributions from the selected 46 artists, this group exhibition becomes a place where fun and play are welcomed as genuine, committed forms of creative expression.”

We would like to congratulate the following artists who were selected for the show:

“My family of origin always valued creativity and self employment, all working class people. My interest in painting and drawing started at a very early age. For a life lesson, I learned in kindergarten, that I could hold a brush in my hand and stand at an easel. It was so satisfying to be able to express myself in a positive way without using words and the sky was the limit. . I found creating a visual example for another person was an economical way of communicating. It was quick. I was born and raised in California. When I was younger , in school I spent time traveling to Europe, Asia and the Middle East. I loved to absorb the experiences of life in far away places. And traveling through other exhotic lands that were so different from my own culture shaped how I interpreted my life and new ideas. This privilege of traveling gave me a deep appreciation for art as I witnessed it in the everyday life and depth of people from around the world. I reveled in being a complete tourist. Upon returning home to California, I incorporate these memories of time spent away into my artwork. It is a simple and powerful strategy for me that I draw on to create my artwork.

Each work starts with me imagining something beautiful and something unique that I am able , with the tools I have been given , to produce. All the work is one of a kind and original and can take days or even years to complete. It depends upon when I feel that I have done my best . And when I feel that I can walk away from it, that I know it is complete. This current set of flower paintings on the hardboard is a reminder of Spring. Spring is promised.“

It is our pleasure to announce the winning artists of the “Around The World” juried group art exhibition:

Leslie Clark, First Prize $150.
Melanie Kline, Second Prize $100.
Julie Goldman, Third Prize Solo Show in February.

Each winning artwork did not just offer a glimpse into a place, but a vision. They don’t just represent countries or customs — they embody the soul of travel: the curiosity that draws us toward the unknown, the connection that bridges difference, and the beauty that lingers long after we return home. These artworks tell stories that feel both personal and universal. You reminded us why we travel — not just to move through spaces, but to be moved.

We are happy to announce that Darling Graham, our Solo Show winner from “2025” premieres her show today. Darling’s show runs from January 1 - 31, 2026 on our website https://www.hmvcgallery.com/exhibitions-solo/ (LINK IN BIO).

Darling Graham is a contemporary visual artist whose multidisciplinary practice incorporates drawing, photography, and digital media. She describes her distinctive style as “feminine superflat art,” a refined and concept-driven approach that blends traditional techniques with digital tools to explore identity, femininity, and personal evolution. Born in Rome, Italy, Darling began her artistic journey at the Liceo Artistico Via Ripetta, where the city’s rich history and architecture left a lasting impression. At nineteen, she moved to Canada, later earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts and Photography from the University of Ottawa. After graduating, she relocated to Montreal, where she gained recognition as one half of the acclaimed photography duo Leda & St. Jacques, known for their visually compelling work in both editorial and commercial settings.
Now based between Canada and the United States, Darling has developed a unique visual language that feels intimate yet symbolically rich. Her work often pairs soft, flat color palettes with the presence of a central female figure, who is stylized, ageless, and emotionally complex.

“Art is my existential library. I unfold my work as a personal journal of dreams, fears, happiness, and insecurities, always touched by humor. My style, which I call “feminine superflat art,” blends photography, drawing, and digital painting to create delicate, symbolic compositions. Each piece begins with self-portrait photography and evolves through graphite, pastel, and digital color, forming soft narratives about identity and transformation. The recurring female figure and her cat act as reflections of self and emotional continuity.”
