Fun fact; Vincent van Gogh's watercolor painting "Wheat Stacks" recently sold in 2021 for almost $36 million!

I recently had a discussion about watercolor painting and that it was a "cheaper" way of painting. Let me tell you, there is nothing further from the truth. Tubes of quality watercolor pigments cost more than $20 per 5ml tube, and quality paper is expensive. This medium is very unforgiving and once a mistake is made, it's very difficult to correct.

I love painting with watercolor pigments and the time and effort it takes to learn the basic rule of how to "keep the light" is well worth it. There is nothing more satisfying than to see a flower come to life with it's transparent petals, or a stormy sky created with a bit of Payne's Grey and Prussian Blue.
