The creation of this organization was based on the fondness of outdoor musical events and some inspiration from Henley Douglas Jr, when the founders of BLJ attended a performance by his band, HDrNB, in Salem shortly after life was reemerging from Covid 19 (you had to show your vax card to get in). His support (more like "sure we'll play") has been huge in our success as we come up on the 5th Annual MBTS Music Fest, so its only fitting that we share this album release. This one is extra special as it features the legendary Dave Brown and was recorded at his place in Gloucester. Enjoy!
From SOSS Records
This is Henley's first jazz album released September 1998.
His idea was to record his original music using a jazz rhythm section with two guitar players known for their blues, rock and all-around musical diversity. Joining Henley is his long-time musical partner Garret Savluk on trumpet, and Craig Rawding on vocals.
Henley dedicated this album to his grandmother Hazel Ann Douglas.
"The power of Hazel's heart and soul was an illuminating force. Hazel's "light" would not necessarily show you the way to go but would instead direct you to follow the light of your own soul."
