Happy Mother's Day! 💐

Today we celebrate all the mothers and mother figures who hold families together with strength, love, and unwavering dedication.

As we prepare to bring Fiddler on the Roof to our stage this summer, we're reminded of Golde and the mamas of Anatevka — women who balanced tradition with change, who loved fiercely, and who held their families together through life's biggest challenges.

To all the mothers in our Upper Room family: Thank you for being the heart of your homes. We celebrate YOU and all the mothers who strengthen our community with love and endless support! 🙏 ❤️

TONS of rich, memorable roles available! From Tevye's daughters and Golde to the vibrant village community of Anatevka — matchmakers, tailors, villagers, and more — this show offers something for everyone.

Looking for a wide range:
• Strong singers with character depth

• Ensemble storytellers
• SPECIAL: Violinist to play the iconic Fiddler on stage

Seeking performers ages 20s-30s, college students, and rising 9th-12th graders. Plus performers 40+ are welcome to audition for the roles of Golde, Yente, Lazar Wolf, and Rabbi, too.

Here it is!

We've been sitting on this secret for MONTHS.

And we're about to blow your minds.

For our milestone 25th anniversary production of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF…

We didn't just cast Tevye.

We brought in a LEGEND.

Meet Jim Lawson.

Now… if you're not familiar with the theater scene, let us introduce you to someone VERY special.

Jim is a PROFESSIONAL actor with 40+ years of commanding stages.

We're talking LEAD ROLES in dozens of shows (like Hello, Dolly!, The Sound of Music, Guys and Dolls, Man of La Mancha just to name a few).

Performances at the National Theatre in DC. Olney Theatre Center. Round House Theatre. Opera companies. Regional theaters. National tours. Shakespeare plays.

He's starred opposite Sally Struthers. He's directed and performed professionally at Riverside Center for the Performing Arts, as well as with major organizations like Kaiser Permanente.

And his talents don't stop at the stage... Jim's also a professional voiceover artist, video producer, and sought-after speaker who travels the country for the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics.

This is a SERIOUS professional theater veteran.

But here's what makes this casting so PERFECT for us…

Jim fell in LOVE with our mission when he first heard about Upper Room.

A faith-based theater program that uses world-class productions to fund 293+ youth programs and mission trips?

He was ALL IN.

So he made his debut with us in our hit 2024 Freaky Friday. And once he experienced what we do here… the heart, the mission, the ministry… there was no going back.

Because Jim isn't just a pro looking for another stage.

He's a man of deep faith. A husband to Wendy. A father of NINE. A grandfather of TEN.

(Plus way too many goats and chickens to count on their homestead. 🐐🐔)

And beyond his well of talent, he GETS what Upper Room Theatre is about.

He's not just here to play Tevye… he's here to LIVE the story alongside us. To bring that raw, aching authenticity to a role that demands it.

Because FIDDLER isn't just about tradition. It's about what happens when everything you've built your life on gets shaken to its core.

And Jim? He knows how to carry that weight.
