I know I will get shamed for saying this, but while I love the ocean so much, I really, really love being among the trees. Give me flowers and leaves over sand any day...
And I know there are other meadow/forest-loving friends out there!!
If you would like to see some refreshing landscapes of our area, this is a great show to catch!

One of the MANY cool projects I am entrusted with...

A WW1 Artillery Guidon.
We do no harm to whatever we are framing, so this was attached with needle and thread to a linen backing.

I realized while sewing it, that only myself and the woman who probably made it, had put a needle to it. I thought that was really awesome and wanted to share!
Thank you, Jeff, for letting me work on this!

It's taken me over a week to deal with making this post. I'm very sorry it's so long, but words need to be said about our guy.

Knuckles, my beloved cat, and our shop mascot, passed away suddenly last week.
If you have been a regular in the shop, or walk through town, I'm sure you met our 6-toed orange boy with the crumpled ear, and snaggle tooth.

He was the gentlest of 17 pound giants...
Kids would lay on him like a pillow and he would purr the whole time... We could put pipe cleaner glasses on him as seen above! He even purred getting shots. He was pure love.

In the shop, he was either above my desk in his basket, sprawled on the gallery floor greeting customers, begging for scraps at lunchtime, sitting in the front windows, or sunbathing on the back deck.

We referred to him as HR. "Go take that up with Knuckles!!"

He once sold a painting ...a customer (now friend) came in for the first time because of Knuckles lounging in the front window. She ended up buying a painting, and said, Your cat sold that piece, btw!!

On a personal level, he was truly my buddy. A quiet, steady presence. Inquisitive, but never annoying. Loving and hilarious. He followed me from room to room to be near me.

Main Street Gallery and Knuckles are woven together intricately for me. We both figured out how to own an art gallery / frame shop together. We put in a lot of time (even if he slept on the job!) Having him beside me all those late nights made it less lonely. He soothed all of our weary hearts each day. The hole he left is so massive. There is a hollowing.

I know how many of you will miss him too.

If you find one of Knuckles hairs in your framing (kidding, but also seriously), consider yourself lucky.

Knuckles, I will miss you forever and I love you with every fiber of my being.

On this cold day, we are reminded that it's National Bird Day! We love how our different artists use their medium to give us multiple versions of our winged friends!
