This weekend marked an important moment at The Historic Ritz Theatre with the official unveiling of the Henson Benson Foundation Balcony, held as part of the 16th Triennial Malvern-Wilson Reunion and Homecoming.
For many years, the balcony held a complicated and painful place in the history of The Ritz and in the memories of Malvern’s African American community. As part of this project, we created a special video featuring personal interviews with local residents who shared their stories, memories, and experiences connected to the balcony.
Through the generosity and vision of the Henson Benson Foundation, the balcony has now been named with the purpose of acknowledging that history while reclaiming the space and reimagining what it can represent for future generations.
The video will be available on The Ritz website and through a QR code located on the stairs leading to the balcony, giving visitors the opportunity to hear these stories firsthand and better understand the significance of this space.
We are grateful to the Henson Benson Foundation for helping us preserve this important history, honor the voices of our community, and give new meaning to a space that carries so many memories.
This is more than a name. It is a story being remembered, shared, and carried forward. ❤️

Introducing Camp Curtain Call: Step into the Spotlight— a one-day theatre experience for young performers ages 6–18 at the historic Ritz Theatre!
Whether your child already loves being onstage or is ready to try something completely new, this is their chance to act, imagine, create, build confidence, and discover the magic of theatre in a fun, encouraging environment. No previous theatre experience required!

🎟️ $45 per camper
🌟 Ages 6–12: Morning Session
🌟 Ages 13–18: Afternoon Session
Session times and age groupings may be adjusted based on enrollment.
A 50% deposit ($22.50) reserves your camper’s spot, with the remaining balance due September 25.
