Staff Spotlight: Renn Joslyn
Meet Mahtomedi Summer Theater Director Renn Joslyn! 💛💙
Renn Joslyn is the Director of our Mahtomedi Summer Theater production of Cinderella through Community Education! He is also our district’s resident Theater Manager, working with our middle and high school productions, directing high school plays and our MSHSL One-Act Play Competition piece each year.
Renn holds a bachelor's degree in Theater and Speech Communication and has spent the past 23 years working professionally and with schools across Minnesota. He is entering his seventh year here in Mahtomedi!
Theater is Renn's third love in life, after his two kids, and he is passionate about creating opportunities for others to fall in love with it, too. ⭐
As the Director of a show, Renn is the person who visualizes everything before it happens and finds the right people to be in the right spot at the right time. Whether cast or crew, his goal is to make sure everyone is engaged, learning, and excelling in the work they do.
When asked about a proud moment from his work, Renn shared,
🗨️ “Starting the Mahtomedi Summer Theater program last summer has been an incredible experience and opportunity to bring theater to a greater audience in our community. We hope that it will grow and develop and become a staple of the experience in our arts community for all ages.”
Renn also shared what makes Mahtomedi Community Education so special:
🗨️ “To see people of different ages, demographics, and places in life come together to find one common vision is incredible. The unity and joy found here spreads contagiously amongst people who've never met before and builds a sense of what it means to be ‘Mahtomedi’ unlike any other activity I've worked with elsewhere.”
