The economic impact of Ghost Town in the Sky and Frontierland was massive!
Here is a 6 page article printed in the Coca-Cola trade magazine in 1964.
Pal Parker Archives supplied the photos and Coca-Cola corporate headquarters sent a reporter from Atlanta to Maggie Valley and Cherokee. Pal Parker took them on a tour of the 2 parks.
They Interviewed RB Coburn owner of the parks as well as 6 Gun Territory in Ocala FL.
The article states that in the single season Ghost Town Sold 300.000 soft drinks and had an average attendance of 4000 visitors a day with a peak single day attendance of 13000.
The massive crowds who flocked to this amazing amusement park stayed in local motels and campgrounds, spent their money in local gift shops and ate in local restaurants.
Everything you see in Maggie Valley today has been directly impacted by the success of Ghost Town in the past.

Pal Parker Archives Ghost Town Meeting With Russ Rphoto Parker representing Pal Parker

We at Pal Parker Archives were very excited to have had an extensive meeting with one of the new principle owners of Ghost Town. We had a great meeting looking thru hundreds of old iconic photos from the Golden Years of Ghost Town!
It was very reassuring that they care deeply about the rich history and legacy of the place we all know and love. I would like to assure all those concerned about the New Ghost Town that the new owners get it. The recent comments taken out of context and misquoted are just that. During our meeting I was able to provide the new owners copies the original scripts from the internationally famed Ghost Town Gunfighters. In addition they have expressed great interest in viewing some professional prepared videos produced by Robert Bradley (The Apache Kid).

Now that does not mean that the gunfights will be verbatim performances we have all come to know and love. Corky Hendricks idea about writing the and expressing your opinion is really a great way to show you care. From my Meeting with them I can tell you they do care about the history and traditional experience we had at Ghost Town in the Sky.
I would encourage everyone passionate about Ghost Town to give these folk the benefit of the doubt.
Please give these folks some breathing room and be patient in waiting for official press releases.

Attempting to integrate the historical Ghost Town with a relevant experience that will appeal to both the parents and grandparents who are bringing their children back to Ghost Town and one that the kids will love is the intent of the new Ghost Town.
Pal Parker Archives looks forward to providing Pal Parker's Photographs for both advertising, merchandising and a historical editorial photo book featuring the Golden Years of Ghost Town In the Sky. More to Come...

The Ghost Town in the Sky experience changed dramatically in the mid Seventy's. After National Services purchased the park from RB Coburn they took out the horses and blasted the top of the mountain to install carnival rides. Part of the original concept of a trip back to the 1870's Ghost Town died that year. Progress? Please be sure to like Pal Parker's Page Pal Parker Archives.

To the regular visitors of Ghost Town in the Sky he was Marshall Bill Slaughter. To the people who knew him, Bill Leatherwood was simply named "Goose". Hundreds of thousands of Ghost Town fans watched Bill stop the international famed Ghost Town Gunfighters every hour on the hour on the streets of the park. But Bill was much more than just a character in a gunfight. "Goose" became the face of Ghost Town In the Sky.

Bella and Romeo need your help!
We now have information as to how you can help make sure the horse thieves receive all the punishment the law allows. Bella has become sicker running a fever and possibly developed an ulcer. Romeo continues to show signs of an upper respiratory infection similar to Bella. There has been a big change in their eating habits due to the stress of the ordeal. Both have been placed on stronger medicine as they continue in quarantine at Dixie Way Appaloosa Ranch in Canton NC.
Representatives of the District attorney’s office have told me that Letters of victims and supporters can have an impact. They have asked me rather than send the letters to them please gather them and bring all of them to the office. Below is our mailing address and email address to have your voice heard by both the District Attorney and Judge in the case against Dustin Heath Hoglen and Nancy Fox McClellan .
Your heartfelt words will be greatly valued and submitted to the Judge.
In addition many have asked about coming to the court. We are very grateful that many have taken this personally and would like to come to court. As many know we are out of state at a medical specialist caring for our daughter.
The first Court Date is this Wednesday 11/2/16 in courtroom 2b second floor of the Haywood County Justice Center. (New Building) We have no Idea of the specific time but the notice we received indicates it will be in the morning session. Again we appreciate any support you can give to Bella and Romeo. Since we cannot be there to stand and look these people in the eye we would appreciate any help you can give. It is important to remain respectful of the Judge and courtroom proceeding.
This is our Contact information and Email address. Thank you for taking your time to make your feeling known.
