The economic impact of Ghost Town in the Sky and Frontierland was massive!
Here is a 6 page article printed in the Coca-Cola trade magazine in 1964.
Pal Parker Archives supplied the photos and Coca-Cola corporate headquarters sent a reporter from Atlanta to Maggie Valley and Cherokee. Pal Parker took them on a tour of the 2 parks.
They Interviewed RB Coburn owner of the parks as well as 6 Gun Territory in Ocala FL.
The article states that in the single season Ghost Town Sold 300.000 soft drinks and had an average attendance of 4000 visitors a day with a peak single day attendance of 13000.
The massive crowds who flocked to this amazing amusement park stayed in local motels and campgrounds, spent their money in local gift shops and ate in local restaurants.
Everything you see in Maggie Valley today has been directly impacted by the success of Ghost Town in the past.
